whats up folks locdawg here. just wanted to update the folks here on rollitup on whats been going on in my little neck of the woods. well first things first i am a medicinal cannabis user in a medical marijuana law state. okay now that thats off my chest. i began my humble growing roots just about 2 moths ago in early Feb, i had just got my med card and knew i couldn't delay getting going on my own grow op because the meds in my area are too expensive for my blood. also when i began my mm patient status in my state I bought 1 .oz and was hoping that would last me until my first harvest. well 2 short months down the road here I am with no more bud left very little cash flow and a 95% built grow room(got a few more cords lights and sockets to buy when money picks up currently between jobs just starting a new one).
I was reading online last night about a grower by i think his name was speecees and he developed a method of growing short 1 cola plants in 1 gallon buckets and harvesting over 7 times a year or so(mined condensed version of his system). he stated that the goal of his project was to harvest bigger yields and more often harvest. he said this was all achieved by inducing flowering early, in fact straight from seed 12/12 light cycle. the results were documented and proven. he said he harvested 700 grams with this system using i think a 600 watt hps maybe?
anyways i know that with cfl'S and their lower lumen per over all watts output is lower than an hps, so i could expect that big of a harvest but however it made perfect since that if bud was you intended goal then why not start flowering imediately and produce one massive single cola per plant and only have them be between 8-16 inchs tall all said and done.
okay theres my question weigh and help me decide between the two system of grown perpetual, or no mercy(name of speecees technique) now its time for show and tell. here's where my grown is at so far. got six decent size 1month old plants and several different strains as listed. 1.grand daddy purp 2. werewolf my own proprietary hybrid 3. train-wreck 4.romulan x pot of gold x sour diesel. and the resulting plants have been grown from seed minus the gdp that was a clone i bought. they are all in the near vicinity of height of 3-5 inches now. so if i were to do the 12/12 no mercy system i could expect a finish height between 9-15 inches of triple in size or 6-10 if only doubled. for more info on the perpetual harvest system go check out either ne1can grow , The Closet Farmer on you tube. anyways when i do with you guys help deciding what program to run i will take the plants out of the micro grow computer case i built, and re pot them in 1 gallon buckets move them to my big flowering cab i just built. inside the large cab there will be 8 cfls as listed in wattage. 1. two 300 cfl 2. three 100 watt cfl cool white bulb 3. three warm white 100 watt cfl. and for ventilation i have two dual speed 140 mm case fans i wired up to three 5 volt cell phone chargers. the exhaust fan is wired 2 5 volt charger wired in series switched to top speed. Then my intact fan is wired to a single 5 volt charger, for the simple fact that i didn't feel intact was as important as exhausting all that hot air form 8 high wattage cfl.
nutrients-
so fart i have been feed foxfarm line of organic nutes like grow big and tiger bloom and open sesame. not all in conjunction but that is what i planed on using and then adding in some super thrive folar feeding during veg and adding in unsulfured organic molasses during flowering to boost those buds size! my soil is simple 3 parts cocoa coir to 1 part per-lite. i chose this soil because I've used in the past and it has worked well and allowed good and proper drainage of the water through the soil. i also like it because it is free of any dissolved solids or salts or anything remotely related to ferts that could cause burning so its easy to handle fertilizing and knowing when too much is too much. other soils I've used in the past like MG has had time released ferts in it already making it a little more difficult to figure what nutes to add as not to overload plants.
I plan to house my grow here on this site so i will keep up dating semi-weekly and let you guys peer through the window of my grown op. anything I've missed or any opinions, or idea's would be greatly appreciated if shared just keep it clean we're all friends here. almost forgot on the flowering cab i am still in the process of coming up with a way to make light traps for those fans as you can see i haven't yet any idea's?
thanks
