lolly popping? when where how and how often

lolly popping is toping. haha, say that 5 times fast

essentially trying to get multiple tops growing at about the same heighth...Now depending on your light and grow space, it might change when exactly you are going to do it. I like smaller plants, 2-3 feet tall not including the dirt. I top when they are about 6-9 inches, more importantly 5 or 6 nodes. then let them recover for about a week. At that point, you will see the plant start branching. Whichever shoots grow fastest tie down. Also, any obvious stragler branches should be chopped at this point. After the training and removal of the unwanted small gowrth. I give another week then flower. You will end up with 6-10 colas that are all about the same size and all in an optimum light

This is the exact opposite of lollypopping, topping to bush out lollypopping is to create a single cola.

regards,

I thought I completely misunderstood what it was, but I thought lollypop ping just meant that you trim off lower branches leaving a naked stem typically 12-24" up the plant. I don't know this made since to me because the plant ends up with lil nubs of branches sticking out, thus looking like a lollypop tree.

Nada, i just read what i wrote though, wasn't exactly clear. Lollipopping you trim the lower growth to get all the bud on top where the light is hitting it the most and strongest. A single cola does not do this because it makes it too tall.

to add on to what i said earlier, about 2 or 3 weeks into flower the plant will have stopped its vertical stretching and start producing buds. At that point you trim all bud growth below a given line (For me it is normally a couple inches above where i topped....Now you have lollipopped plants

with the trimming in flower you want to do that, but mdoestly, leave as many fan leaves as you can in that growth but get rid of the bud sites. Only fan leaves i remove are the ones crowding the center of the plant. the fan leaves still provide energy for the rest of the plant, and will limit the amount you stress the plant (Least amount of stress the best in bloom - stress can force things to go hermie)

I am stoned, this making sense

Appreciate the replies I've read that this method will produce large buds indeed if done properly and with the right strain/ genetics and also you loose slight resin production is this true?

No resin loss, that is genetics mostly. other factors can effect resin production, but these factors (Light, temp, humidity, nutriets, growing medium) will effect the plant the same no matter if it is lollipopped, scrogged, lsted or let grow crazy

Lollipopping actually makes your buds better as a whole if you think about it. Keep in mind the goal of lollipopping is to get all of your bud in the most optimum light (Most intense). If done correctly, your buds as a whole will be more dense and frosty

I love talking theory

How would you go about lolly pooping a plant. Where would you start and much to cut to keep shock low as possible and how would a cutting schedule be set up like cut every couple days two branches at a time how long to let the plant rest after being cut and what week in flower should trimming start?

from what i read most what i read dont know shit about the subject
it is cutting all growth except main stalk to produce one bud not multiple tops
just one main cola nothing else
there is a excellent thread that total discusses it here

It can be one cola or multiple. Basically describes the structure of the cola (all buds at top). And it is taking all the the growth below a certain level on the plant. I like to leave the fan leaves though as i said earlier, less stress, and energy store and producer.

The whole reason to do it is to get as much bud as close to the light as possible.

I basicaly laid the blueprint out for you as far as when to trim also. For mutiple shoots, top when the plant has about 5 healthy nodes (Should be 6-9 inches tall at that point). After week give or take you will see the side branching start to grow. There will be some branches shooting ahead and some real scraglers. Clip the straglers and fan leaves on the main stock that are blocking lower branch growth. Also, tie the leading braches down (To below the tops of the other branches if possible.). So now you have topped and started training the plant. Let the plant veg another week. the branches you tied down will now have curved back up but hopefully the smaller branches below have caught up.

Time to flower. The first 2 weeks of flower are explosive. The plant will double in heighth and show sex by the end of the second week. Don't touch them until this vertical growth has stopped and buds have started forming 3 weeks give or take. Now trim the bud growth on lower half of plant (this will usually be lower 1 foot on 2 foot plant). Again, try to leave as many fan leaves as possible (remove the ones that are touching soil, crowding middle of plant). Every time I stress the plant I make sure to feed with a little superthrive to help with the shock and prevent chicks with dicks. Now you hae only bud growth on top 1/2 to 1/3 of plant. Dont touch again until you chop in 5-8 weeks.

lollipopping is one cola
plants shaped like a lollipop
variations are not same
if u want multiple colas fine but not lollipopping

agree to disagree. but you did say you dont know shit about the subject....I think you are missing the concept behind lollipopping.

My method just gets more bud then a single cola in lower lighting situations (WhICH IS PROBABLY WHY YOU NEED TO LOLLIPOP IN FIRST PLACE)

lolly popping is exactly that one bud that resembles a lolly pop just cuz some of u guys do supercropping and want to call it lolly pop dont make it so

wrong bro. it can def be multiple colas SHAPED LIKE LOLLIPOPS its just trimming the bottom 2/3 of the plant .

Growing a Purple Hindu Kush, a small bushy plant , with amazing yields. Outdoor grow, Portland or area. Defoliating/ lollypopping at preflower, and again 2 weeks later ,which exposed light to bottom branches. Im using Amplify Bloom as a base , and Flower fuel, every week, This strain loves it heavy on the nutes,.. 4 weeks into flower now..

I like to top no earlier than the seventh node depending on the strain and branch growth.

I usually prune the bottom two nodes right before they really start developing...usually after around 5 or 6 nodes tall. IMO it’s inefficient to let something grow out if you’re just gonna cut it later. After the flower stretch I usually prune the bottom 1/3-2/3 of the plant where the light doesn’t hit much or is just going to become popcorn.

Lollipopping is trimming all the underneath so the energy is focused on the main colas.
