Hello, I want to store my water. I use Rain water / well water / pond water.

I was thinking it would be cool to have 2 or 3 hunderd (200-300) gallons of water stocked up. how do i do this?

So if i have a 200 gallon container filled with water, how do i keep it good? Do i put a air stone in it and keep it arated, or a water pump to keep the water moving? or do i want to seel it off from the AIR?

or could i have a water pump contently pumping the water though a filter and back into the container?

Do i want to keep all the light off it? right now I collect rain water and store it in 1 gallon jugs, A SHIT ton of jugs , it's not that bad when they are all full, but i am limited to the water i can store( only have 100 jugs) but when it dont rain for a long time, i end up with a PILE of emtry jugs, and they get in my way.

i was thinking a couple 55 gallon barrels or a 200 gallon tank. what do you guys do?

It will need air and a good cover and little to no light. Also watch it as stored rain water is going to attract bugs and you dont want to have all that larve that is in the water widing up in your plants.

You cant add anything to it that I know to stop this but if you are aware you will be ok. When I get water out of the rain barrel I go deep for it, never taking the top water as this is where the larve is.

Good idea and cant hurt anything. Everyone I know stores rainwater in something for some reason. Mostly veggies and flowers but it is a good thing to do.

It just rained, it was a drought all summer. than it dont rain in winter, it snows and freezes, I only need 3-5 gallons a week.

I always use RAIN water when availible, but when it DOESN'T rain i have to use Nasty pond water, or even nastyer minial filled yellow well water.

I WANT TO USE RAIN WATER ALL YEAR, but I can only store so much, in gallon jugs, I only got 11 plants , but i want to keep the water source Consistant as possable, insted of haveing to swicth mid grow. Yesterday was the FIRST time my plants got rain water, because we been with out rain. now I got alot of rain water and want to keep it, so I dont have to go though this again. i need enough water to get me thought the winter....
