Looking for HPS/MH light

Is this a good light?

What do you suggest?

I would look for a regular 6" air cooled reflector so if you dont need to cool you can remove the glass to allow the uv through....besides cleaning the cool tube tubes are a pain in the ass and without keeping them cleaned you will loose a good amount of your light....you may not notice so much but the plants will

I like the sun system stuff, they make the galaxy digital ballast which ive had good luck with and a fair price for decent equipment.

That light will work fine, but my suggestion to you is spend the extra $20 or so and opt for the hood instead of the tube.

That's pretty damned cheap. But, you get what you pay for. The best part of that package is HPS lamp and ballast, hangers and timer. I'm not a fan of MH lamps. That reflector is terrible, but again, get what you pay for.

Still, thats a nice jump if what your using now is CFL or something.

These are gaining ground but

do note these HPS/Mh combos do need to be shielded

meaning ensure that you have some protection

from the Mh bulb, by law they need to be sealed

hence the glass covers on Mh lamps

sometimes they go off like hand grenades

with glass everywhere, in the plants, in the walls

and you..!

hence the tubes are the best

that said theres serious shit with RFI leakage in many

digital ballasts, ensure your comes with a FCC certificate

you don't want neighbors bitching at you at 2am

or the ballast screwing with your wifi?
