i am thinking have it be about 6 or 7 feet with a 1000w hps cool tube in the center so each plant can be 2.5 to 3 ft tall? i have seen them where it sits over a reservoir and gets sprayed from the side so it just turns by gravity(the wet side weighs more so it goes down and drier side goes up).i'm thinking make 2 octagons from 4 inch pvc and every elbow would be a 3way so a 2ft piece could connect them together?

they make a bigger version of that it takes two 600watt hps google omega garden. i have one its about 7 ft long and 5 ft wide

I don't have a schematic for you but I did think of this myself, seeing as the omega garden is so expensive. My idea was instead of powering the thing why not just run drip tubes to the pots every few minutes to keep it rotating but the seven feet does sound like a proper width. Would you be using auto flowers?

no auto flowers i was thinking it would be 7 ft tall and 3-4 ft wide not sure how to make it rotate tho(if the gravity thing does not work i will put a belt drive on it with a motor)..i would make 1 inch holes in the pvc so i could stuff the 1.5 inch rookwool with a clone into them.and the roots could grow inside the pipe?i could run the 1000w mh for a few weeks then switch to the hps and 12/12 them.

Yeah that would sound about right. I'm almost positive the weight will work for you. How would you feel about putting holes in intervals so you can move the plants outward as they grow? You might need two lights I know the one you based it off uses two 600's

i think i have it.. each side would be 34.79 inches so about 3 ft .. i would put 2 plants on each one so 16 plants for each side of the wheel and the ones connecting them could be the same length so 16 more thats 48 plants with one light and a floor space of about 4x4.any help??

i have 2 1000w switchable lights and all 4 bulbs already but i was thinking make 2 of these and use one light each? the bulb is a foot long and needs to light up 3 feet wide and 3.5 feet deep i think its enough?

I've seen the wheel not very impressive you really can't tie your buds from falling over and your roots are exposed each turn witch is not good and if they get to long they will drag on the floor and you want more root the more thats on the bottom means more on top just a thought!

the roots will be growing inside the pvc there will be about a foot on each side for them for each plant .maybe i can even fill the inside with perlite or something if the roots can't just be open in there?with it being perlite filled it would only need to rotate about 1 time a day? lets get some ideas flowing here???

i too am very interested in the diy side of these. but i am wondering you could somehow make the pot farther with sometype of extension that can be set so your plants can grow a little bigger. say the machine startes at 4ft and as the plant grows you can move it out so to 7or8ft. i would prefer like 8 ft, thats almost 4 ft of growth and thats perfect for me. maybe cfls so the plants could get that much closer. or start with it at 8 ft and have the light be able to adjust to closer levels at the begining, this would be about equal to a light mover, closer to the plant at times and other times farther away... i like the thought process. i hope this keeps going.

if i put the clones in it when there about 6 inches the 1000w mh light will only be about 3 feet away i think thats fine.i have plants all on the floor right now and the outside ones are 3 feet away anyways. but my rooms are about 8x8 and i have 10-12 plants in each,if i build 2 of these i can have 48 plants in each room and take up less space and every plant will get full light.my ceiling is 8ft tall thats why my wheel needs to be about 7 ft.

any ideas ? the thing i found to get the right sizes says i need 22.5 degree elbows but by my own math i would think i need 45 degree elbows right?
