just thought id let u guys know, my plants started showing sex at day 16, out of the 3, there where 2 small plants and 1 very large plant. the 2 small ones a male, and the large is female.
all plants had same soil, biobizz all mix, and where planted directly into 5 litre pots, once germed in a paper towel, they've been grown on a 20/4 light regime from seed, using a blue spectrum 250w envirolite, which i switched to a red 250w once sex was shown.
just got 2 seeds germing again in a towel to replace the 2 males, im going to put them straight under the red spectrum envirolite with the big mother, and see how they go.
got to say these enviros are pretty good, low power consumption and low heat, the plants all look very healthy.
i dont know if the size difference could be used as an early sex indicator, or if it was just these plants, but the males look way smaller than the female, im going to keep the biggest male, seperate and collect his pollen in case i decide to get some seeds in the futre.

ill try get some pictures on soon:peace:

just uprooted the smallist male, the root system was massive it had engulfed the whole of the 5 litre pot, crazey for such a small plant. ive put the other male in the window, away from the female, just waiting for my other seeds to germ.

I noticed that my male auto-AKs were a bit smaller than the females too - must be genetics, I guess. I'd love to see pics when you get them :blsmoke:

should be posting some pics soon, should be interesting to see the end results, using cfls. hope they turn out as healthy as ur jay. just starting adding some bio bloom nuts, the roots look like there coming out the bottom of the 5 litre pot, do u think i should move to a bigger pot or just leave them?:peace:

Bigger pot is bigger plant is more weed. Unless you want to keep the plant from getting too big for any reason then moving to a bigger pot will usually help. Slide the root ball out of the pot and have a look at it first, though - if it's just a few stray roots don't worry about it yet, but if they're all getting tangled and compacted then the plant will definitely benefit.

They're looking nice and healthy, mate! Over the next week or so you may want to tie some of the branches LST style - I did that with mine around the end of the third week and it really helped a lot. The AKs seem to love to branch but they really don't like to stretch at all so the budding branches can end up too close together. If you use a bit of cord to tie the side branches to the pot edge you can train them to open out a bit wider while the stems are still quite pliable and they will beef up to support the weight of the buds later. See the pic, maybe, to see what I mean - this had been tied for a bit already so the stalks have thickened and stiffened since, but you can see how it can pull the side stems out to give the buds more room to get light and fatten up :blsmoke:

I've got a pack of mixed lowlife autos that I've started a few of. I've got two females coming up now, both around the same age as yours, maybe a week older - just starting to flower now, at any rate. I don't know what they are, mind you, just mixed auto crosses, so could be kush, ak, lemon skunk, blueberry, etc. One looks a *lot* like the AK did and the other is much smaller - not sure which it is yet. I'll post some pics when I get a thread together for them.

just planted one of the seeds i had germing today, ive noticed with these seeds that they need to be cracked after soaking, for the sprout to emerge. i left one to emerge naturally a couple of weeks back but it never came out. anyone else experienced this with this strain?:peace:

I had a few that were tough to start - depends on how fresh they are. Sometimes just scuffing the surface of the seed with sandpaper is enough to let the water soak in.

Looking monstrous and very healthy - keep at it and the AK will reward you with mountains of bud, haha! It's an amazing plant. Mine wanted bigger pots by the time flowering kicked in and a bigger pot really helped it to make lots of bud. I moved it up to a 20L pot (~5 gallon) and that seems a good size to let the AK grow to its full capacity - may help you out as well.

yeh m8 defo gettin a bigger pot, there in 5 litre pots at the mo and the roots are starting to come out the surface aswell. got my other 2 starting to leaf today, there both lookin nice and green. the male i got in the window, has gone quite tall now, hasnt bushed out at all like the female, but i guess thats down to lack of sunshine. just curious how much did u pay for a 20litre pot.

quick update, took some of jays advice and repotted into a 20 litre pot today, when i removed the plant from the old pot roots looked really healthy if a bit cramped in the old pot. hopefully plant will get even bigger with more root space. the buds are starting to rise above the fan leafs, ive counted around 12 so far.
the 2 little babys are lookin good too, starting to leaf out, they seem taller then when i vegged with the blue lamp.:peace:

That's interesting about the blue lamp making taller plants - I wondered if that might be the case. My lamp is an enhanced HPS type so it has a bit more blue than a standard HPS, but I noticed my AKs stayed really squat and short under it. I think it may have been bright enough to suppress stretch but maybe not quite blue enough to really boost stem growth. This is really fine, though, because I wanted a short plant and, in the end, it's ending up making really tight, dense buds, which is good. I kept a fan on mine all the time as well, always on low power, but that seemed to help immensely in beefing up the stalks and stems. I haven't had to stake it at all because of that and it's holding up some pretty heavy buds with no problem. I'll bet she's going to love that new pot! =D

yeh i put the seedling straight under the red spectrum with the big moma, they seem to be doing ok, ive put them on a box so there closer to the light as i had to raise it for the mother, it could be just a case of when i started i had the blue spectrum bulb about 2" away from the pots, these new ones might just be stretching towards the bulb which is further away, or it could be i have 2 more females,im not sure.
im stuck in 2 minds about the male in the window, its gone quite tall now, i dont want to kill him tho, i might try and smuggle him to some woodland and plant him there lol. what you reckon the chance of survival would be if you planted a male and female next too each other in the wild? you think they would breed and produce a little ganja farm lol.:peace:

Haha, well, they'd probably fare alright in the wild - maybe they wouldn't reach ideal size or potency, but I'm sure they would do well enough to make seeds for next year. Planted like that, though, you'd never be able to manage the females so you'd end up with seeded schwag if you went back to pick it, but yeah, I'm sure it would survive. It may even be worth planting it somewhere outdoors if you plan to come back and just get the pollen from it - then you could swab a few buds, make some seeds, and still have most of your female yielding prime sensi buds.

just some snaps of the male i got, as you can see its quite gangley compared to the stocky female, looks like a proper sativa in these pics.
qualitys abit low as pics where taken on a phone.
