Lst Nightmare Help Please Asap

I have an LST plant that is a complete bush in veg for bout 3 weeks now and its bushy as all hell
anyways
my worse dream came true to my baby
the steam snapped half way i came in and notied this what should i do i closed it and wrapped it as if i was splicing another plant onto the steam
can someone let me no if tht was right or not and the snap is about half way thru the steam should she be ok?
or is its taop portion screwed

I snapped one about 3/4ths of the way through. I splinted it with a small stick (actually it was Q-tip with the ends cut off) and some string. Some leaves died above the wound but it recovered fully.

I believe taping around the wound works too. Just don't leave it on too long and strangle the stalk. I might have used tape but I didn't have enough access to get in there easily. Applying the splint was hard enough.
