Lumatek Digitial Ballast & APC Battery Back-up?

I experience frequent brown-outs in my area and can't find any information on this topic so I have to ask, Obviously I could try it and see but I don't want to ruin my investment. Does anyone know if it would be safe to plug my 400w Lumatek ballast into an APC battery back-up? I know that it uses a stepped approximation to a sinewave, and i'm not sure if HID's will run off that type of inverted power in the event of an outage.

I use one for my Lumetek ballast/ventilation.
Tested excellent. Just don't exceed specs i.e. amperage/load and battery wattage and you'll be fine, pretty much the same if your using an extension cord with it. If I were you wit a 400 watter/ventilation, I get one with the most wattage maybe a 900 watts.
