new to indoor, Do u judge by lumens or watts? and how many lumens/watts of CFL are recommended for seedlings/clones?

best nugs flower at 50,000 lumens plus, go to any seed breeder website and they will agree, 400 watt hps give you 50000 lumens, the hps with blue spectrum gives like 57000, more lumes=fatter buds, the professionals will tell you this, email them if you doubt it.

no i mean i was just wondering if u go by lumens or by watts. i was not doubting that more power gives more buds. i was just wondering the lumens or watts thing.

i was also asking for how much do u need for seedlings/cloning? i plan to flower outside.

you dont just go by one of them you go by both, 50,ooo lumens gives good buds and thats a 400w hps with blue spectrum if you want more then you get like a 600w hps lamp the more the better

go to cannabis.com faq list, and somewhere they will tell you what kind of lumens a garden plant with southern exposure get from the sun, and also the lumens per hps or mh light for indoor, that should give you a good idea

k yeah. so u go by both. i wanted to know how much u want for seedlings/starting clones (not finishing buds)?

seedlings or clones u can veg at 1300 plus lumens without too much stretching, but remember the veg cycle only last 1-5 weeks so thats not the bigger picture, flower cycle is 6-12 week depending on strain, veg clycle you have some room to play with, flower cycle is the payoff

well im just starting them inside for like the first 2 weeks, then moving/transplanting to bigger pots outside

Just remember, lumens aren't cumulative. 10x 1300 lumen cfl bulbs will still only provide 1300 lumens.

Generally the higher the wattage, the higher the luminosity, so if you're going to use CFL's get the absolutely highest wattage possible.

ok people lets think this out lumens = energy so more energy more lumens
no way around that yes each bulb is producing the same amount out lumens as each other bulb but lets think here if you add one more then there are more photons than there were before so more energy landing on that spot and more photosenthysys

take a mirror reflect a spot of light on the wall -- get another mirror of the same size and aim it on the same spot -- wow the spot just got brighter hmmm more lumens in one spot they do add up its just a matter of aiming them in the same place

energy is energy no matter what form its in heat, gravity, wind or light and more is more --- a 1000 watt mh or hps is not going to be most effecient with no reflector....why not hmm must be the lumens that are being lost due to landing on the wall or the floor or the celing and getting turned into heat by adsorbtion now if we put that bulb in a reflector those lost lumens get focused where we want them and HOT DAMN more lumens in the same spot.

dosent matter where those lumens came from it was aiming them where we wanted them that made the difference and they did add up
