Lumens/Watts

i was wondering what the lumens to square feet ratio should be. Ans also how many watts per? Im using a 400 watt hps in a 3'x2' area. Roughly 7500 lumens a square foot and 66.5 watts a square. Im in 2nd week of 12/12. Will this be enough light?

yeah thats enough light, you want 50 watts per foot for good results, plants can use up to 100 watts per foot but at 50 your returns start to diminish, so with 60 per foot your in the green for a kick ass crop, im not so sure about lumens but i think the magic number is around 5k per foot

what is standard for a gram/watt/lumen ratio? For example if im not producing at least a gram per watt am i doing something wrong or is it even going to be cheaper than just buying weed on the street?

u have a really really long ways to go...lol

400 grams for 400 watts is a good (kinda hard) goal to reach and yes very cheaper than buying it off the street...

You're good with that 400.

I don't do the watts/sqft, since different lighting has different lumens/watts. Compare say, lumens for 400w of HPS vs 400w of CFL's.

I do the lumens/sqft, since it is actual light.

Figure roughly, 3,000 lumens/sqft for veg and 5,000 lumens/sqft for flowering as minimums.

@7,500/sqft, you're golden, if you can keep the temps in line.
