I just finished hanging up some Blue Mystic (blueberry x skunk #1) and it smells great! But the last 2 plants smelled just as good and then lost that overpowering blueberry scent after drying for 5 days. They've regained some of it in the jar along with a more complex, sweeter scent but that old kick-ass blueberry smell is only a fraction of what it once was.
My question(s):
1. Will the smell come back out as the curing process progresses?
2. Could I be drying them improperly and this could be removing the smell (too fast etc)?
How I dry them: 62-69 degrees F with 40-50% RH in a dark closet. The doors are cracked and I have a small desk fan that I position at different points to keep air flow going. The fan is never directly pointing at the drying buds, usually above them drawing air up and through, or blowing horizontally into the closet on the floor.
I put the dried buds into jars once they get to be crispier on the outside but give and then regain shape if compressed, so there is still a bit of moisture in them. I open the jars about 2-3 daily for a week or so and then open them once a day for the next week or 10 days and then vacuum seal in the jar (if for long term) or open only when I take out a piece to enjoy.
