Hello!
I successfully germed my seeds (3 Aurora Indica and 2 Papaya). I'm using Jungle Growth Soil as my medium. Two 60 watt CFL's (I'll get more when the time comes) on a 18/6 lighting schedule. Anyway, I've put them in the soil and they've been there for 3 days with no visible sprouts. I've been reading many posts for about the past 3 months, and it seems to me that people are getting sprouts around the second day. I know that I'm probably being impatient, but I can't shake the feeling that I've done something wrong. Can anyone help me? Once again, I am a noob, so if I didn't provide enough information for you to help, just point me in the direction of how I can help you help me.

Thanks and happy tokin

if you plant to deep u can always very gently dig them up(tho i advise against it) use a little tlc(tender loving care) and replant them closer to the surface if the stem is developed let it out just above the soil the stem that is not the tap root that has to be facing down remember the stem is green the tap root is white i have done this many times with no problems but unless its bag seed like im growing i advise against anything that could hurt you expensive precious seeds hope this helps

Happy Growing

yes they will still sprout, will just take longer, just don't over water it. and leave it alone , don't be digging around in there.

Something you can do is gently remove the soil above the seed to see what's going on. Sometimes you think you got a dud, but when you dig down you see that the cotyledons opened upside down and can't force it's way up, or you packed the soil too tight. Or sometimes you do really have a dud. That's why I like to germ my seeds in wet paper towels on a plate. Just stick a bowl or another plate over it to keep it dark and humid so no mold starts growing. Keep the paper towels wet and check on them every day, when you have sprouts you'll know because the seeds will crack and a white taproot will be sticking out. That way you can at least know for sure that everything you put in soil is already a viable, sprouted seedling.

I like to harvest 4 plants. If I grew from seed, I would expect 50% male/female so I would want 8 seedlings. Of the 8 seeds that do grow some will suck or be runty so now its 10. Whenever I germinate I always get 2 or 3 duds if from bagseed, so I would put 15 seeds in my wet paper towels. From there I would pick the very best looking sprouts, then the very best looking seedlings, then the very best looking females, etc.... I like to do it that way just so I always know I'll average what I like to get and will rarely go under.
