Making a garage safe for a show

Hello All,

I was wondering what is the best way to secure & seal up the garage door from light leaks, smell and sound. Most ppl have those thin aluminum panels that make up the overhead door.

I would think that the the safest way would be to:
  1. Lock the shit out of it
  2. insulate/soundproof it
  3. frame in front of it and drywall it
If one didnt want to go through the drywall part of it, is there any simple safe solutions to mask the telltales to keep safe?

Thanks

U got 1 and 2 dwn, so if u dont want 2 build an entire wall over it, u could frame it and use black and white poly (panda film). Staple it to ur frame wrk, b sure ur frame wrk is larger than the door, overlapin the door.
just a thought! keep us updated on wat u decide.

Thank you for reply,

thats what i was thinking, b/w it, hauling drywall around seems to be a heatscore with retired neighbors around IMO

Do you have any suggestions for locking up the door? I think unplugging the automatic door opener mechanism is the 1st step haha. That would be just as bad as the people that have accidentally 911 themselves with the auto dial on their phones. lol

The stuff they sell at HD is crap, like a single sliding hand turning shaft to lock into the sliding apparatus.

I am hoping someone knows of a much beefier way to secure it, one that can be done with minimal damage to the door.

Thanks again

my garage door has both the garage door opener, as well as a sliding lock on either side that you push into the track.... that would be one way to keep it from opening (it will open like an inch)
Disconnect it from the opener as said....
some sort of padlock maybe to lock it in place with the track?
