male harvest question

Hi guys,
I have a male plant that I want to get some pollen from. Can I just cuts open the male flowers and shake the pollen out into dish or do I have to put a bag on it and wait for the pollen to come out naturally ?

I would wait until the sacks look like they are about to bust, then pick them off and put them into a paper bag and when they pop pick the empty pollen sacks outta the bag. Or you can pick off the stalk that the pollen sacks are clustered on and put the stalk into a glass of water(just like you would flowers) sit the glass on a piece of paper and let the pollen fall onto the paper
