20150828_183134-1.jpg So it turns out you don't need absolute darkness, or even moonlight levels of darkness to flower. After moving a few plants that decided to flower, I came across this gem (in TWELVE lux, mind you).

I thought I saw hairs as well, but I've never seen developed male flowers before. Do they normally stack berries/nugs like the hops they're related to?

If this is a male I'd appreciate any breeder advice. I've been wanting some male genetics for seed. Regardless of potency, this one has survived 110° weather, unlike some of his counterparts. I could use strong genetics to play with. Also, variety is the spice of life.

I want to collect pollen and pollinate samples of each of my half dozen strains. I don't smoke, so I'll have to enlist the help of a connoisseur to assist me in testing the properties of the fruits of the resulting seeds. After picking a winner and of course naming it, what's next, feminization?

Perhaps I have my terminology wrong but dont most people recognize an S1 as a selfed plant using chemicals (standard method) to produce a female seed (s1)? Wont he have just another hermie if in fact thats what that is, if he uses that pollen or those seeds?

One has the same % of female plants as for regular seeds. S-1's = hermies or female plants as were regular seeds = male or female plants as a comparison. It's all a crap shoot except when one pollinates with male's or chemical means

So are you saying that a female plant that was bred to weed (hehehe) out the herm trait (which most good breeders do I believe) then self it, those seeds would have the same percentage of males/herms as the random plant that hermed, using its selfed seeds? Sorry just trying to get what your saying. Just a note, I have grown over 50 femmed strains and of those I've had one produce male flowers. Had a couple of critical show nanners, but it went way beyond the finished stage.....sorry missed your last statement, yes I agree, I think! lol

Any idea what strain this is or how to I.D. it? I've been told that it could possibly be a Blackberry Kush. My source ordered several strains and somehow mixed them up together. She doesn't remember what they were. The names she dropped were
Blackberry Kush and that If any 11-12 point leaves form that's the super lemon haze or sour patch strain. So far they're at 7 points max. I can upload more pics if that helps. Temps have been pretty high, so no signs of purpling

Your Kush and Haze are going to be distinctly different, so easy enough to tell them apart....

that just looks like a male to me. did you say you did see white hairs? if you're going to collect from him, how do you plan on storing the pollen?

no one will be able to tell you what strain it is...maybe after smoking it and you could narrow the list down if your source remembers what she had mixed up, but definitely not by looking at it.

Just wanted to make sure. It was in 24 hour light when I noticed it in flower. I figured there was a possibility of something weird going on. I've taken a few clones from it, so I should be good on pollen indefinitely.

Sorry folks but I haven't grown a lot of males as its always been clones or femmed, so is that a full blown male? Or is it a herm? And if it is a herm would the pollen not be a bad thing to use?

The seeds were bought online. I'm not sure if they were marketed as feminized.

I think. My source is kinda spacey.

pollen can only be stored around 2 months before it goes bad.

No not true. since pollen is microscopic im not saying you cant throw a hand full on a plant and get A seed or two but that might be all you would get and couldn't be considered viable.

I think if u research it a bit you will find that pollen can be stored for decades if done properly, (yes it does lose some viability but still very usable) and kept frozen. From what I have read it will last a few months in a fridge kept cool. I'm still thinking that if thats a herm there is really no reason to keep it anyways. Honestly this is only what I've read though. I've never actually bred a plant on purpose lol and really have no desire unless I find some super landrace sativa in mexico lol. I'm on a quest to find a decent strain to clone lol. If I'm wrong please point out some other research so I don't keep spouting bullshit that I've read lol

I took several clones from it, so I should have genetics to pull from at a later date. I put it in my spare bathroom. Not exactly a Clean Room, but I'm hoping it gets enough light to finish flowering and is secure enough to not impregnate unwanted seeds. I've read that after pollen is collected it can be added to lower branches for seed while the tops are left to make nice buds.
