manipulating growth

hi, im a virgin to this so if im talking shit plz let me no...
i got a few seeds to grow of a mate, i got a great area to grow them but i need to stop them growing any more than 5 foot give or take a bit.
so the question im askin is, can i manipulate the growth of my plants????????
any help be much aprectiated.

If you don't want to cut it you can always tie it down! It will still grow but the other way!

Generally speaking, once a plant enters flowering from veg, it will grow to twice (or occasionally three times) the height it is. So if you only veg to a third of your available space you'll be fine. (Be sure to include space for the pot it's in and the lights, and the space from lights to plant). You can also top the plant, which will give you more colas as well as keeping it shorter, and look into LST - all will work in your favor.
