Marijuana and fresh air

This may seem like a stupid question but i want to know... does marijuana HAVE to have fresh air? or can i just use and air purification system?

You could do a sealed environment where you scrub the air with a carbon filter, and have a Co2 system set up. Fans should still circulate air in the room as this is your new "fresh" air.
