Okay, so here is a (maybe) interesting little discovery that I recently came across...
Last year's grow turned out fine (Archive Chemdozer)...good yield on just two plants. I had a couple other plants, too....but both turned out to be hermaphrodites, so they got culled. Ultimately, I ended up with a lot of just the one strain. The smell and flavor was okay -kinda reminiscent of eucalyptus....but more like Vick's Vapor Rub! The Chemdozer had been chopped at 15 weeks because I had seen some other people's grows where they had taken their flowers an extra long time that looked great and I wanted to try it. After everything was said and done, I feel like I might have waited too long to harvest and I suspect that some of the terpenes, etc... had already evaporated by that time...and so I had lost some of the flavor. Anyway, it was still really good weed all-around....but I was getting tired of it.
Fast forward to this year's grow....I had three different strains turn out: Drawoh's Chocolate Thai F4, Northern Light's #2 and a freebie called "Meig's OG". The Meig's turned out to finish very quickly and was ripe at 7 weeks, but I let it go for almost a week past that. Being that it ended up being chopped weeks prior to the other two strains, it went into the drying tent and was ready to go into the Grove bags almost 3 weeks before the Chocolate Thai and the Northern Lights #2.
Just recently, after 6 weeks of being in a heat sealed Grove bag, I finally was able to sample some of the Meig's OG. It tuned out with a very lovely taste and smell -kind of like Bailey's Irish Cream liqueur.
And here's the funny thing..After smoking a few hits of the Meig's, I switched over to the year-old Chemdozer...The first thing that I noticed was that the Chemdozer, which had previously been kind of ho-hum/meh in terms of flavor, suddenly tasted like a delicious slice of key lime pie! Somehow, the residual taste that was stuck in my pallet from the one strain, had combined with the taste of the second strain and left a completely new taste on my pallet.
I have experienced this taste-phenomenon with a kind of alcoholic beverage called "Chocolate Cake Shot" - which is where you take a slice of lemon, coat it with some sugar, and then bite into it right after slamming a shot of Frangelico/vodka. It leaves a clear and distinct taste of the richest and best chocolate cake you've ever eaten!
Now, can't wait for the remaining strains to finish curing to see if "blending" two or more of the strains will create other unique flavors.
