Marijuana Tax Revenue

You'd figure that in this global turmoil that we'd take more of an initiative to help our working class rather than bail-out our rich top 3% so they can dig us deeper into debt

...and so instead of creating new jobs and new sectors of work, they go back to the same structure and policy's (with minimal SEC interrogation/interruption/regulation) and resume doing the same thing that put us into this global phenomena. How many greenthumbs would you create if you had kids growing instead of going to a job they hate in an office, doing admin work or working at a local fast food joint getting fat... sigh, it's all about control friends,

nonetheless, just a fun jpeg I sutmbledUpon.

As this debate will rage on for the ages, lets just look at the sheer stupidity and fear in these governments of legalizing, they think things will take a turn for the worst, sigh... we need some tokers in parliament.

Tax revenue's, that's all I'm getting it. As the debate rages on, it was the jpeg I wanted to show. Look at all that money, and that money could be saved from stopping the war on marijuana (not drugs, but marijuana specifically). Regardless if its not cited from a research journal, I'm sure these numbers are fairly realistic and wow, look at that money. It's a shame that power and fear mongering and illegals drugs have caused the bigger debt by assigning more and a more and more resources towards it, creating extra, unnecessary and unessential services, ie. admin jobs that we know aren't necessary, jobs that are tedious and repetitive that can be automated (data entry, certain manufacturing processes, etc).

This debate should be in direct relation to legalization. I think the arguments so far for legalization have not worked, and I think tax revenue could be a viable argument law makers may consider listening to. Unfortunately, large corporations like Monsantos and DuPont and others will lobby until they are blue in the face. Legalization of marijuana and thusly, legalization of hemp as a commercial crop will have a large uphill battle against the cotton industry. A VERY large industry, and the original reason for the criminalization of marihuana in the first place..

Perceptions are changing. Every year more people favor re-legalization.

And the potential of tax revenues is a very good argument. Unfortunately, many on the pro-cannabis side of the issue reject the possibility of taxation and regulation.

This is for a variety of reasons. Hatred of industry. Protection of their own interests.

See California.

After the end of Prohibition, a large number of Federal agents were left with nothing to do. If government bureaucrats are adept at anything it is justifying their own existence.

So a new threat was manufactured courtesy of Harry Anslinger. Harry convinced average Americans that weed would make white women attracted to (black) Jazz musicians. Propaganda was produced depicting average wholesome teens becoming raving lunatics on the weed.

And a new name was coined - Marihuana, or mari-juana. As such, physicians who believed in the medicinal properties of what they called cannabis were not alerted.

The timber industry was happy. The cotton textile industry was happy. The chemical industry was happy. The petroleum industry was happy. People prejudiced against blacks and Hispanics were happy.

And government bureaucrats justified their existence, which made them happy.
