MASSIVE Harbor Freight Jack Stand Recall 1.7 Million Units (i know this is the wrong forum, just trying to save lives)

As someone who has sustained life changing injuries (not related to these jack stands) I just want to help prevent anyone else from being hurt/killed. Years ago, I actually worked under vehicles while using these recalled jack stands and trusting them with my life. They did not fail on me, i got lucky. They did give me the worst blood blister of my life but im just fine with that, much better than a crushed skull. The fact that they have sold 1.7 million of these defective units over an 8 year span means that a huge percentage of the population owns them and considering the vast majority of people dont work on cars, that means a large percentage of the ones who do have them and are using them. I am on the "extra cautious" side of things and put vehicles on solid wood ramps then jack it up and add jack stands so there are literally three things that should all be able to hold the vehicle by themselves. Most people do not operate at this level of safety.

Please, if you, your family, or anyone you know works on cars and might own these, let them know whats going on and urge them to check if they have the ones being recalled. Harbor Freight will swap them out with new ones that are MUCH better and safer. This recall is not being made as public as it should be. I only learned of it stumbling across a youtube video and as i suspected i knew someone who has a set and had no idea they were recalled. This should be on the front page of the harbor freight coupon book they send out weekly but that will never happen, they will do their best replace as few as possible. All you have to do is take them to any Harbor Freight and they will swap them out no questions asked.

If the mods want to move this to a different spot thats fine, i just couldnt find anywhere this topic fits, and i want as many people to know about it as possible. There is no reason for anyone to be killed or go through the pain of recovering from the injuries these are causing. There is to much pain in the world as it is.

Don't buy anything that you life has to depend on from harbor freight.
One would think jack stands rated for 6 tons that you are using to support only 1 ton would be perfectly safe. Not everyone can afford top of the line tools. A lot of people working on their own cars are doing it because they cant afford to have someone else do it. Products being sold at brick and mortar stores in America should be regulated to a point where even if they are cheap Chinese shit, they are still safe to use. Look at all the Ikea furniture deaths. Its sickening.

Just went and checked my jack stands. Not that brand which I thought but checked anyway. When I work on cars I use a floor jack, jack stands, and then slide a tire and rim under if I can.

As for IKEA, all the junk they sell is sickening.

Yup, 3 safety points is ideal. Lots of guys work under vehicles with just the jack holding it up. Convincing them to buy 35$ harbor freight stands is a lot easier than 500$ snap on stands. But the ones china was pushing over here that got recalled are sickening.

I don't play around with my life.

I still remember the days of the bumper jack. Now those things were scary.

Neither do I. A lot of people simply arent educated on how to safely work under a car. They figure their jack says 3 tons so considering the entire car weighs less than 2 tons, should be plenty safe to trust right? We know thats wrong but its easy to see how someone could think that. Especially foreigners who struggle to educate themselves on things like that due to more limited access to information they can easily understand.
