Max length for remote ballast?

I am doing a major overhaul of my setup. I have the cheap HTG supply 400w ballast S51 magnetic. I made an upgrade to a nice Sunlight supply hood with the cable attached. Total length is 25 feet total. I don't know but something doesn't seem right. It seems that my ballast got louder or changed its tune if that makes sense. Or my mind is just playing evil tricks on me, cuz I made everything else so much quieter. Damn near silent.

I am kinda inclined to move the ballast into the room anyway. So if I dont hear from anyone I am going to do a little chopping, and move the ballast in the room. Just to be safe.

the only thing I can come up with is the wire is too small for the length but if reading your post correctly, it came w/ the hood so I doubt the manufacture would do that.

you generally never want to have a line longer than 15' from the ballast.

Thank. I was kinda thinking 15 feet was the max, because they dont make any type of extensions for them. I will be shortening it.
