Maximize 8x4 Tent

Hey guys, been growing off and on for a few years now. First time ive come on here to post though. Looking for a few different opinions so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Okay I have an 8x4 tent that is about 7 ft tall, my question is what do you guys think would be the best way to maximize my space to be the most efficient?

I have a 1k hps and 600 hps with intake and exhaust fans as well as oscillating for ventilation. On my last run just running only the 1k hps i pulled around a lb. off 17 plants which were packed under the light pretty tight. Not to dissapointed with this but i know i could do better.

Do you guys think its more efficient to run less plants that are larger or try to squeeze 20-25 in there under both lights? Anybody out there running similar size tent and what are your results? What should somebody expect to pull from 1600 watts in an 8x4? Sorry for the long post but again any info or input is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

plant count is a thing around here but 1 lb from 1600 watts is pretty poor. I'd do something different. were you doing no veg time? more than likely soil too eh?

under 1 1000 watt I can grow with no prob 40 plants in 3 gal, in soil, for 4 1/4 ounce per plant my strains are not huge producers they only reach about 4.5 ft tall, still 10.5 pd every 35 days! aint bad

I do run 4 1000 watt bloom 2 1000 veg now but just a ball park est. I think you may not need anything but the 1000 watt light in a space that small. mabey use the smaller light in a seperate area for veg?

@ dbkick no on my last run i only used 1000k and got pulled a lb. still poor but not as bad. and yes i am using soil and vegged for about a month

@#melungeonman you put 40 plants under 1k of light and pull 4 1/4 per plant? and harvest every 35 days? or did i misread that? How long are you vegging for to pull 4 1/4 off one plant?

I have seperate veg tent already so i figure I might as well throw the extra light in the flower tent and maybe do bigger plants this time. Last time yielded about 1 oz per plant. Figured with another 600 watts i should be able to double that to 2 oz. What do you guys think?

There's so many ways to go about things man. Ive grown lp aero, dwc, rdwc, UC, and now coco hempy style. I used to pull a lb under 1k hps in a 4x4 tent with 4 plants scrogging them. edit : this was a year ago and a different set up and time. Also a one month perpetual cycle.

My last grow was a single aurora plant in coco/perlite mix and she suffered from nute lock out and I cut her a week early and still pulled 6.5oz of dense bud off her. She was a 4ft plant, 5ft with pot. edit : this is new grow and just starting things up again. looking for the best taste, aroma, appeal, and high obviously now. Whether it be grow style or the switch to organics soon.

I have a 4x8 tent as well. I use it for veg though. How long are you looking to veg for is the question ?

I grow commercially.... under 6 1000 watters sure

Im runnin a 10 x 5 tent with 2 1000s... 18 plant total in flower @ 4 oz... using a 8 inch canfan filter set up

Can you tell me more about this perpetual cycle? I'm looking to veg for about 3-4 weeks. 2 under cfls and 2 weeks under hps ( dont have a metal halide) Vegging for this period of time what are these plants capable of yielding? keeping in mind im vegging with damn near 1600k for 2 weeks

Can I ask you how long you veg for and under what/how many lights?

What is your vegging set up and for how long are you vegging?

LMAO my favorite part was when he said 40 plants in 3 gallon buckets under a 1 k.. maybe if you're stacking brick-style lollipops and rotating you can fit 24 or so under a 1k.. and 35 days?

My bloom setup is also an 8x4 and I use a 4x4 for veg. dual 1kw in the 8x4, single 1kw in the veg. only difference being HPS and MH, respectively.

I am quasi-lollipopping and cutting the entire bottom 3rd. I grow one scrip of fifteen plants and veg anywhere from 45-135 clones depending on what my needs are. I have seen yields lower than yours when i fucked up my plants by nuking them etc, and i usually now average between 3.5-5.5 oz per plant depending on the strain.

Just keep at it and you'll figure out what works good for you. I read about a lot of people growing start to finish on HPS and I used to myself, but a good strong veg under MH before moving to HPS has made, for me, noticeable improvements to the health of my plants and the yield come harvest time. Remember you can buy MH bulbs for cheap too, so I really recommend trying them if you have a switchable ballast. I also recommend, if you're using clones, to plant them directly into 3 gallon or bigger pots in a good medium (standard fox farms ocean and Perlite for me 50/50-70/30.. it's never exact cuz i hand mix and just guess at what each plant might prefer. ) and let them adapt to their new home for 2 weeks before your start giving them nutes or lower your lights. After the plants have good strong roots established I lower the 1k I veg under about 3 feet away from their canopy and start introducing nutes in weekly increments starting at 1/4 dose, then one-half, then 3/4, then full dose til a week before harvest.

A lot of people start giving their plants tons of nutes right away and I think its important to treat your plants like any other living being.. you dont want to shock them. introduce them to the potting soil environment and wait. lower lights and wait. introduced vitamin regimens incrementally and wait. patience and love man. thanks for your post. best of luck.

3grams one plant with a little room to spare. A couple of years ago don't recall exactly, could have been 3.5 grams??

If you are wanting to maximize the space you should look into hydroponic vertical grows.

I'd probably use 2x 630 De cmh(or 6 315 cmh with co2) bare bulb verticle and treat it as if it were two seperate 4x4 spaces, IF you were wanting to just maximize output of the tent space.

What about the difference in two 600w hps/mh and one 1000w hps/mh?

One 600w hps can cover a 4x4. One 1000w hps can cover a 5x5 depending on hoods.
