Twas the night before Christmas across this great land
the last under prohibition if they stick with the plan
They promised to legalize back in twenty-fifteen
What that will look like has yet to be seen
The plant will be free they promise by summer
if they delay anymore it'll be a real bummer
I'm not much for waiting and I hate to be told
so I'll spark one now, if I can be so bold
The bowls have been filled with buds green and sticky
Jane prefers bubble hash, Me? I'm not real picky
I take a big haul from my favorite bong
I get a good rush that didn't take long
I think about Trudeau and what he has done
from cops to prime ministers they all think they've won
They want an exclusive, an impossible feat
our culture is powerful, we can not be beat
The suits keep on squabbling “we want more money”
so pathetically greedy, It really is quite funny
They asked our opinion our answers were given
the fact they ignored us Can not be forgiven
I lay on the couch rolling joint after joint
I want to call Justin, I want to make my point
I reach for my phone and scroll my contacts
Seems his number has slipped through the cracks
I ponder my options as I crumble some hash
I could visit in person but I have no cash
I get an new idea, and it's one I can afford
I light a fat Jay and reach for my keyboard
My brain starts working, my fingers begin to write
I'll put thoughts to paper, I'll show him what's right
The words fly out quickly, our position is firm
We'll prove the corruption, let's watch them squirm
I speak of the weedsels, Julian, Chuck et al
We will boycott their business and laugh when they fall
They attempted to profit from the poor and the sick
When they formerly jailed us, the hypocrisy is thick
I write of the rhetoric, the call of “save the children”
while ignoring the obvious, booze is the real villain
The lies and the myths flowing thick and so fast
Absolute insanity – who knew reefer-madness would last
Cries of impaired driving and the cannabis deaths
While kids die from drinking, booze on their breaths
This is straight fear-mongering, stop with the bullshit
Our children are fine, this crap needs to quit
We want to be free to grow, smoke and share
And buy in a store if the market is fair
We want be able to gather and toke
In all public places where it's okay to smoke
We want to be free to use this fine plant
To heal our bodies and the relief it will grant
To enjoy it with friends, talk, sing and dance
We know what we're doing, give us a chance
I struggle for words as I wrap up this note
I speak for all people though I'm not one to gloat
The joints are all gone, just one left to smoke
I end with a comment – how I hope they go broke
I sink in the couch and let the keyboard fall
I toke in silence and stare at the wall
Will my words have an impact, this I much doubt
But I gave it my best, I got it all out
I fade off to dreamland with a drag on the vape
I'm some kinda super hero, with a leaf for a cape
My mission is to conquer the evil LP's
and so in the process bring them to their knees
I hit them with boycotts and stories of mold
and weed that's unsmokable cause it's so old
I tell of chemicals and pesticides that kill
How they flaunt the laws and poison us still
I think I'm successful, but I wake before I know
I hope for the best in the vape's blue lights glow
We've done all we can the rest's up to politicians
With the onslaught of weedsels, I have my suspicions
I lay my head down and hope for the best
for Zoic and Growrock, Cannadan and the rest
With Christmas upon us and the coming new year
We sit here not knowing if we'll cry or if we'll cheer
So now my friends, lets leave politics aside
We lived through prohibition and it was a hell of a ride
Things can only get better, the end is in sight
Merry Christmas to all and may 2018 be bright
