I just recently acquired a San Pedro cactus cutting from a friend. He bought two 16 inch stems online for like 40 bucks, and gave me a good 2 inch cross section. I'm letting the cutting heal, it's been going for about 5 days now, and i'll let it continue until it's been 2 weeks.
this is my cutting, both sides. it's healing itself - sealing the cut areas from pathogens, and to prevent water loss. it's a pretty cool plant, not to mention the awesome effects from its consumption, which is analogous to the consumption of peyote. i also included a picture of a mature San Pedro cactus.
after the 2 week healing process, i'll just sit the cutting down about a centimeter into some moist but well drained soil, and it will begin to root after another 2 weeks.
if anyone has any advice, i always appreciate it. otherwise, learn the simplicity of growing San Pedro! I'll also add that it's completely legal to cultivate this plant, just not to consume it... unless you're a Native American involved with the Native American Religion, then you can, because mescaline is used in certain religious ceremonies. Rock on!
