Metal Halide lights.....do they last long

last i checked they are around 15,000 hours? but thats continuous use. turning them on/off every day will lower that number, just like every other bulb in the world.
the main thing to remember, is your gonna spend 5$-150$ for a bulb. either incandescent, HPS, CFL or MH. spend more for the bulb, get better herb. dont worry about how long it lasts. worry about the lumens it gives off, and the color spectrum being right. also, you dont wanna use it for its entire length, i try to replace bulbs every grow. with the smaller CFLs, a slightly used one works great in the rest of the house. for HID lamps like MH or HPS, keeping a few used ones handy is great in case it blows out during a holiday weekend or your outa gas or sick and dont wanna make a run to the store.
