MH Flowering

ok so i know not to use MH for flowering, but moneys tight and a friend had a MH setup. I started all this using 4 26w CFLs a 68w CFL and 2 40w t12's with a "plant" spectrum. it took damn near 2 months to get them to 30cm but it did work. I didnt want to flower with such low light and my green thumb buddy said i could use his as long as he got it back and gave him some flowers:weed:. Now heres some questions: how much difference in yield and more importantly will they be more or less potent (ive read both). from what i can find they will yield less but be stronger. can anyone attest to this?

also i do want to use a hps bulb, but the mh to hps conversions cost so much i might as well buy the ballast.

anyway, heres a pic...the thin blue lines are from the intense light.

I used a MH during the flowering phase and my plants came out very nice. With a MH bulb they grow more compact it seems but it may also depend on the genetics you are using. A HPS bulb would grow a bigger yield and i believe quality doesn't change too much. How far away is your light from the tops of the plants? How many watts is your MH? You may want to trim off some of them bottom leaves if the light isn't getting to them. It looks like there is quite a bit of foliage down there.

there is on the center plant. there all the same genes a strain from a buddy called green crack. very tight buds that break u wonderfully with a spicy taste, mostly indica. the light varies from 12" to 16". some days the plants grow 2-3". the one center plant grew short and bushy with alot of fan leaves.

No.. All Ak-48 fem from Nirvana... I think picture 2 & 3 were just taken earlier in flowering.. I was very impressed with the final out come but do have to say they were a lil lighter and airy then I like..

pic update time! some questions meow, the undergrowth is falling off. i mean its just falling off. i had two nice size leaves that were still mostly green, just fall the f off. now i dont have hardly any light at the bottom and i usually just let em grow naturally unless there are differences in height. at this stage should i really cut off what the light isnt hitting? i dont want to stunt the flowering by them concentrating on repairing themselves.
on another note i started 22, yea 22, seedlings in soil. there crap seeds, i mean crap, but im just gonna make oil out of em so i dont care. there only in 2 buckets cause im starting them off at 12/12 and dont really want them taller than a foot.

scott187, what type of cfls did you add? i have a bunch of 26w ones but when i went to see what they would do, i barely noticed any brighter light at the base

Naw they were grown exactly the same the difference is in the picture.. The first pic was taken at around harvet time while the other two pics were taken about three maybe three and a half weeks before.. They still had a lot of growing to do.. The last pic is just a couple buds off different ak-48 plants.. It shows you how uniform this plant grows.. Very nice buds off these girl..

cool, ill def have to get some. im planning on doubling my current set up and was in a seed selection process. you just made one choice for me, thanks! i think snow white might be a good match from what the site shows. ak stated an up high while snow white is a body stone. they both are similar in height, yield, and flowering time.

pitbull love that last photo of you & your nugs.

i too have used MH to flower & got awesome results.

in my case 2 @ 250w... got the job done nicely.

we all know that HPS is the better option but use the MH & you'll be happy with the results.

then again, if you can scrounge a little cash, you might want to check ebay for a 400w MH conversion bulb... cheaper than buying a new light.

i thought it would, but the places ive looked want 60+ for the bulb. its kinda hard for me to justify spending that when i have to give back the ballast. htg has a 400w hps ballast/reflector/bulbs(hps2mh)/wiring for 120. since i have to buy another ballast anyway and i want to double my yield, i was thinking of getting 600w, although it raises the price quite a bit, i dont know if its worth it.
