Michiganman's First Grow - My Journal

What's up? I found this site not to long ago, received some helpful info from the members here and decided to post a grow journal. My friend and I are growing indoors, in a grow tent. For our first grow we are using Lowryder #2 and THC Bomb. We were going to just use soil to learn about growing marijuana but then I found out about Hempy Buckets and so now we are doing 2 soil and 1 HB to compare.

I bought the seeds from marijuana-seeds.nl. I received my seeds 8 days after I ordered them and it was done very steathy. I am going to use them again and would recommend them (though I only bought from them once).

I bought everything else from either a local hydro store or online.

I followed this guide to make my own Carbon Scrubber: http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=31679. It's very easy to follow and end product looks GREAT. Cant comment on performance as I dont have it hooked up yet.

My Tent is a DR120W and am loving it so far. My only big problem is the layout of the vents but we worked it out so it should still work...

Here are some pics of our current set up and our seeds under the light. I didn't get pics of the germinated seeds but all 3 (doing 3 to start out, Lowryder 2) germed very quickly (PT method).

I will update with new pictures whenever possible (these were taken on 1/2/2010)

Hi is that a HPS? What wattage is it? Your setuo looks great btw

You may want to get the ballast for your light outside the tent to reduce heat.

Buttery - Yeah it's a 600W HPS bought off MGS Supply on eBay...and thanks!

Tommy - We were going but we arnt having a heat issue right now, I think once we get the fan set up all the way (I bought wayyy to powerful of a fan) we will move it outside. Right now temps are great. Thanks for the advice though!!!

Thanks man, I was just informed that 2 of the 3 have sprouted above the soil!!!!

great im lookin forward to em' man. i greatly support medicinal marijuana and i have family in michigan and idk where im going with this but ya haha keep posting

Setup looks great! I would honestly get that ballast out of the tent asap. You want to keep a relatively high humidity for vegging and I wouldn't recommend to keep that ballast in there!

They were named over the weekend as well, Maria, Heather, and Jakie...

And Dr. I will talk to my bro about getting the ballast out...thanks for the advice!

Lookin good - looks like you did your homework and actually READ ALL THE INFO HERE!!!! Unlike some people who buy a halogen lamp and line a carboard box with tinfoil, then cry about shit not working! hahaa

I was under the impression that I wasn't supposed to add nutes to the soil until the 3rd week or so (or unless the plants looks like it needs them). Is this correct? Because the guide says to add "Big Bloom" in week 1..

For the Hempy I know I have to add nutes right away sense there are none in the perlite. So in week 2 for the Hempy I am supposed to use both Grow Big and Big Bloom, can I mix these both in the same watering jug? Or do I have to have separate containers for each nute?

use two different containers otherwise they will explode lol I don't really know but i would think mixing them would be no big deal

What do other growers here do? I tried doing some research but not alot came up.

i use fox farm and yes u can mix but dont mix the concntrate fill your water gallon up with water add your grow big to the water shake a lil and then add the tiger bloom , theirs no bag effects their ment to be mixed with eachother but only in water

looks good! i agree on moving the ballast to a higher outside spot..yer askin to get electrocuted

no prob, but i noticed when i used the feeding chart it burnt my plants a lil, so start off with about half of what it says to use then work ur way up till ur plant likes it, also if following the chart make sure to feed only everyother watering wich means water with nutes and then next time water with plain water ans so on and so on
