Micron to Mesh conversion

Here is a method, I want to share with you. There are charts all over the internet, depicting Micron to Mesh conversion. Problem is, they dont explain the formula. So, if you need to convert 74 Micron to Mesh, and you dont see this number on the chart. Then what?

Here it is. 74 Micron divided by 25400 = .003 inches

Now divide .6 by .003 inches = 200 Mesh

Micron and mesh cannot be freely interconverted. In the above calculation, you made the assumption that space size is 0.6 of the total size of space plus one wire or thread of weave. Mesh is a measure of how many strands per inch, whereas micron measures the holes only. cn
