Mini Split vs Wall Mount A/C Units

Wanted a few other’s opinions on which direction I should take. I’m currently using a 13500 btu portable a/c unitin my flower room which is ducted into the crawl space under my building and have a 8000 btu unit in my veg. room. As we all know the portables suck when it comes to the removal of humidity, dehumidifiers create heat in order to remove the humidity. So I’ve been looking to replace those with either a mini split or a wall mounted unit aka window unit. What’s your opinion guys I’m leaning towards the wall mounted unit which is by far cheaper than the mini split. I’d appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

My unit has dehumidifying.its made by Frigidaire. I'll get the model number next time I get in the tent. Of course a drain line has to be used for dehumidifier. No onboard res.

does cool and dehu at the same time? does it have a humidistat that you can set?

Sorry , didn’t read this before I responded. Good luck I hope everything grows well. I’m actually saving a few more dollars to purchase my 24k BTU for my 8x8x8 room.. been alright so far using 2x 1000 watt HPS lights but it’s almost time to flower and spread all my plants/pots and then turn on the other 2x 1000 watt HPS lights (Total of 4000 Watts) Temp kinda fluctuations more than I want at the moment so I can’t wait to get the mini split so I can keep my temperature at a solid and exact number. Lol

I want to see how these aca preform I'm looking for a mini split. so you have 2 heads in your mini split each giving out how many BTUs

i have the senville 30,000 btu dual zone 18,000 btu and 9000 btu. Outside unit has hookup for a 3rd inside unit as well. I love them. I control the temps from an app on my phone

The mini splits are amazing! They get the job done are affordable compared to a central AC unit and definitely more effective than the wall or window units. Everything working great just in time for the addition of my new Spider Farmer SE 5000 I recently obtained through there giveaway contest here on RIU.

First you’ll need an electrician unless you’re comfortable working in the main panel. Other than that you’ll need a set of a/c gauges and a vacuum pump to release the freon once installed. Dont be afraid of this part. I watched a youtube video on this and did myself no problems.

As far as installing in the tent. You’ll need to drill a hole through the wall to hookup the line sets and communication cables to the outside unit. Just run the line set and communication cable through one of the available holes on the tent. You can either mount the unit to your actual wall with the tent in between the a/c mounting bracket and the wall or just hang it with strong zip ties. The indoor units weigh around 20-30 lbs.
