Mites are gone and I spray NOTHING on my plants...

I live near Stockton Ca. and the spider mites are vicious and relentless but I have found the cure, at least for indoor grows anyway.
It's been about six months or more since I've seen a spider mite on my plants.
I spray absolutely nothing on my plants AT ALL.
Instead, I sprayed the entire INSIDE of my grow box with...
Diatomaceous Earth from ACE HARDWARE.
Four pound yellow bag for ten bucks. Has a picture of bugs on it. It has bug poison in it so don't spray your plants with it, only the interior of your grow box.
Mix a couple of tablespoons with a pint of water and put in a spray bottle and coat the inside of your grow area and let dry. There will be a white coating when it dries and in a couple of weeks the bugs were all gone and haven't seen any since...over six months now.
No more expensive treatments of spraying bullshit on your buds.

Some people dust their soil occasionally for bug prevention and maintenance.
Never heard of the spray, pretty cool, might be worth a shot...

TBH i can't fathom how this could possibly be effective. Generally spider mites live on a single plant for the entirety of the life and move very rarely between plants so they would never be on the walls. When they do move it is almost entirely through a process of using the wind (or your indoors fans) and webbing to basically fly like a kite between plants, "ballooning". Thus they never leave the plant They feed on the plants and have no other need, why would spraying the walls/floor of the enclosure be effective at all? Explain?

I think if you do this and dust the soil that the only place they can survive is on the plants. The room would be toxic for them. Hit the plants with Spinosad and or Mighty Wash and you are good to go.

i have tried this too, but the normal spray bottles get clogged with the DE. might have to buy one of the one gallon sprayer types

If I`m spraying for mold outside and the plants in a green house or green tent then I always spray the inside of that too

if your spraying DE around inside a green house then straight up some of it is going onto your plants

De is only bad for you if you inhale it. spray it all over the room and even on the plants before flowers start to form.

They make powder sprayers for de. Use a mask cause de can kill you from inhalation. Causes severe pneumonia.

I used an air hose from my compressor. I took a pickle jar and poked holes with a nail in the lid. Filled the jar with de. Turn the jar sideways and use air hose to blow it. I stood back about 20 feet and bombed my veggie garden with it.

I am not sure it is totally harmless. There is supposedly a food grade DM that may be safer. It is essentially silica or small pieces of glass/sand. I do not think getting it in your lungs is a good idea as White BB aka Al Bundy says. I am not sure if Food Grade is safer or as effective. I would like to know what sprayer JackAzz used?????:wall::hump:

If it was encapsulated in water, then there is probably little danger of it getting in your lungs. However, after it dries that's another story.

Get the food grade stuff and not the "bug dust". Bug dust is fine to use on vegetables and ornamentals in the outdoor garden, but not on plants that are intended to be smoked. I wouldn't want to smoke anything that is contaminated with bug dust.

DE is calcium via the skeletons of diatoms. It's very fine and it's very sharp and it will cut bugs' bodies. It will also irritate the lungs if inhaled.

It will add a bit of calcium to your soil (if you grow in soil). It's not a bad thing to add a bit of it to your organic soil mix.

Hi. I battled the little bastards & you have to treat All growing tools & the area. I made hash outa plants that were infested. I got hit week 6 flower only my 2nd run. I used strong bleach water & mighty wash on plants. Lost prolly 40-50℅ flavor(for dry bud). I mean I bleached the grow room (bathroom). 3rd run all good. 4th run good too.

if you had read my post you would understand that they dont ever go on the soil/container, spider mites "fly" from plant to plant, so they rarely if ever touch anything but the plant. SO if you are not spraying the plant u will not kill the mites.

Where did OP go ....lol .....I live near Stockton as well ........my properties are all just south of Stockton .....hate mites always do
Prevention to keep them at bay myself ........and caterpillars are giving a lot of people trouble this year in our area......

caterpillars indoors? The trick to preventing mites is to not let other growers or outside plants anywhere near your grow, and change clothes before visiting your garden after visiting other growers or handling other plants.

Umb catapillars indoors no ....nor cal outdoor Stockton/modesto is what I was referring to on the catapillars.....and the cleanest of clean indoor grows will still get mites at some point or another ....sadly

oh so you have spider mites outdoors? I would think this time of year the moisture/cold in norcal would kill their cycle. Clean isn't the problem with mites, they come from other growers and they thrive in the ideal climate we give our girls indoors.
