Mites & Temps

I recently read a study that some school did about mites, where they concluded that temperatures of 115° for a period of 3 hours was sufficient to kill off 99.9% of adults, juveniles and their eggs. Has anyone attempted to subject their girls to temps like this? Veg and/or flower? And what do y’all think the ramifications would be, for such a short stint of high temps compared to the damage & havoc these little bastards create?

I once put a dehumidifier in my tent and it shot the temps up to about 110f for 1 hour and I never saw any bad affects

If your plants are healthy and watered I’m sure it would be ok. I wouldn’t bet money on those temps to get rid of mites alone. When you have a active mite population you have to deal with all the life cycles. High Temps alone i don’t believe would crush it. If only it was that easy. Look at outdoor, mites can thrive in triple digit temps. Mites are tuff. And they like to live under the leaves. From my own experience the best way to get rid of mites is in veg, and spraying every 2-4 days for two to three weeks straight at lights out to kill the adults and eggs. You have to hit them hard and just when you think you did it hit them harder. I like to use sprays with emulsified oils such as peppermint oil, rosemary oil emulfised with dr bronners soap. Mites and their eggs will die with oils when used properly and frequently. Diligence is key.
