S spliffin Active Member Mar 23, 2009 #1 i currently have 18 6500k cfls and a 125 watt full spectrum 6400k bulb. the area is 2'x3'. would i be better off taking out some of the 6500k and replacing them with 2700k or do the plants not need any red spectrum for vegging?

TeaTreeOil Well-Known Member Mar 23, 2009 #2 It's not that plants don't need it, but that 6500k bulbs supply more than a sufficient amount(ratio) of it for vegging. In flowering you see the best resulting using both.
