Molasses vs. Honey

I'm interested to know as well. I can take lots of free honey packets from work, but I don't know where to get molasses (though I haven't looked for it; I don't want to spend any money.)

next time you pass a pet food store go and look in the horse food section you will find that you can get ten times the molasses for the same price as you can in the super markets.

I just heard it here, when you asked about it. So I tried it. One tablespoon in one gallon of water. My girl did not die
she is flowering now and getting bigger everyday because of the intense sun the last few days. She is in a pot on my patio. Pictures tomorrow.Hoppy

honey would attract bees, insects or even animals.. so i would stick with the molasses, lots of people use it with out problems so i wouldn't even consider using honey!!

I used honey for my two plants and they came out great. In fact, I never completely flushed, I kept giving them honey up to maybe the last 2-3 waterings. It seemed to me that even when I cut them down, they still had some new growth of flowers coming out... but the thc was alread 40% amber when I cut it down. So it for sure helps growth!

but molasses might be even better. idk. that was my only grow so far and I didn't used it. only honey.

I used molasses last year. I don't really know if it did any good because I've never grown any without using it. But what the hell if its good enough for fdd its good enough for me. I'm using it again.

Molasses seems like it should attract critters, but I've read threads by many successful users, and no one has ever mentioned that problem.
Molasses works not only because of the sugars (if that was the case, we'd just use sugar water or something even cheaper), but because of the secondary- and micro-nutrients/trace elements it includes. If honey has that as well, then perhaps it would work. Something to look into, I guess. Although someone already mentioned that honey is far more expensive than molasses.

It must be unsulphered, and most growers use blackstrap, though I don't know the reason behind that. I think that's the most common variety anyway, so it works out.
I just picked up some Brer Rabbit and it seems to work fine. I believe 'Grandma's' is a more popular brand.

i usually use grandmas.it works great but as most everything else this season it seems like the second people find out growers are buying it they increase the price...i know a guy who used to work for a beekeeper and can get me a grip of honey for free...if i cant use it on my plants though theres just no other way to justify haveing that much honey...
