Mold! appearing on soil surface

my plants are a month into flowering. last time i watered, i noticed white fuzzy mold growing on the surface of the soil, on one plant. i scooped off the top 1/2 inch of soil, watered, and returned the plant to the growth room. its now 5 days later and the same white fuzzy mold has returned on the surface of the plant, and has also developed on a second plant. i have re-aimed my fan at the base of the plants, and its not helping.

id like an educated opinion on what to do. should i scoop off the mold and add a new layer of soil on top? should i prune the plant's bottom? im clueless.

it hasnt really affected the health of the plants (or has it?). id just like to get rid of it before it possibly spreads to the roots.

thanks for insight

you could do that and add a little bleach when you water to kill and prevent mold. just a little say a teaspoon per liter.

You can use regular peroxide that you get at Rite Aid for 2 bottles for $1,add 5 or 6 tblspoons of the peroxide to a spray mist bottle & fill the rest with water, after watering your plants with your regular water spray the top of the soil down with the solution.

You can also add a splash of peroxide to the water you feed them,it makes for happy roots & mold free soil every grow, even when using molasses heavily.

Are you positive it is mold and not minerals and stuff from the water? I use hard tap water and sometimes (notice more on my house plants) get that too. I have been told the excess minerals stay on top of the soil when you water and this is what is turning white. But I am no expert myself and just scrape it off and continue on.:peace:

yeah i had that a little bit but i think doing to peroxide thing will work aswell and a small fan keeping just the top layer a bit cool to prevent mold growth
