This doesn't make sence. If they were to Tax it, at the same time they're allowing you to grow it. Where's the money in that? I said this when I-502 of course they're going to Tax it!!But, they know damn well that they won't let anyone over the age to grow. Because, everyone knows everyone. Pot is as easy to grow than tomatoes. EVERYONE would be growing it. NO ONE will be buying it... So where's the tax revenue coming from?... Up next on 'Politicians Blow Smoke And Suck D***'

Not true actually, I know all sorts of people in Colorado that could care less if they can grow it now that it's legal, but love the fact that they can purchase without their red cards in about a year.

My point is, for those who can and wish not to grow. What makes you think that they'll go to the shop and spend 280$ a oz + 35$ tax = 315$ per oz. When they got their buddy who just so happens to be their neighbor that grows and gives them weed for 140$ per oz? Or even FREE for that matter? Tax not included of course

well you can get medicine for 140 to 180 an ounce after tax already here in the dispensery's, its rare to see it at that high of a price here.

HahahahahahahahHa LOL!!!

It's funny how you think the government is going to hook everyone up. When, the main reason No, the ONLY reason they're doing this is to make money

It's funny that you think I think the gov't is going to hook everyone up, when I have said that it is already that price here in the dispensery's and knowing people who are going in the work of it being recreationalized and their not talking about raising the prices at all. Also its not the gov't owning any of these shops, its regular people that own these shops and are being taxed by the gov't and the owners of the store have to tax the people, that doesn't mean the prices are going to sky rocket. Also of course the gov't is trying to make money off of this.

Have you ever "donated" pot to a dispensary? They give you pennies compared to what they profit off of. If everyones going to be taxed. The conclusion would be to make a bigger profit... How would you suppose we do that?

And if anyone can go to the store and buy it. There is no need for dispensaries. So, granted the price will drop intill Co ops go out of buisness. THEN you will pay that hefty price :)

My neighbor can brew beer, yet I still go to the store to buy mine. I pay a "sin" tax for my beer but for some reason it doesn't bug me. Seems like it'll end up being the same way with weed. If people don't want to pay the tax, grow your own.

Legalize it! Noone should go to jail for a weed.

I don't think they will let just anyone grow it. You will probably have to apply for a permit, and those people will be the one allowed to grow it.

Nothing new with this story. It was already known that OR will vote again in 2014 on the legalization issue. And just like last time it's still a 50/50 issue there currently, in a year who knows. I think the people of Oregon are smart, or more so the majority of growers that voted against legalization last time because they knew what would happen with taxes and regulations. Hopefully hemp will be legalized there as that will be on the 2014 ballot as well, but I am against legalization through taxation and hope this sad trend that will eventually allow corporations to corner the marijuana market and governments to tax, re-tax and add more regulations fails and some type of de-criminalization passes along with less restrictive medical.
Why would anyone want to give government more money? I'll never understand this.

And their not going to let just anyone grow it, you have to be 21 years of age and a resident for like two years before you can just pop six plants outside/in. Also I think you cant be a felon either.

Great another person over-thinking the idea of legalization. Legalize and be done with it. No more people getting arrested, paying fines, having liberties denied. Having lived with the war on drugs for 40 years, I'm ready for it to end. People bitch and moan about the details, when they need to look bigger picture. Get the genie out of the bottle and it won't go back in. But if you wait for the "perfect" deal to come along you may miss your chance.

The reason why I over think things. Is so I don't screw up. Dad did it, grampa did it and so on.
Which is why I did not vote for I-502.... Which is why I'm spooked when I see your name on my top ten visitors... Creepy man

Well you can look at the history of the prohibition and legalization of alcohol and compare it the war on cannabis. it was just a couple of defiant states who decided start the legalization process for alcohol and the dominoes started to fall on the 18th amendment and thats whats happening now. The only difference in the process of cannabis being legal is alcohol was baned then brought back all in one generation, we are going past two generations now and its harder for people to visualize what legal marijuana would really be like.
And everybody has a personal opinion on taxes but the fact remains or country is going down the shitter because nobody wants to pay for anything anymore. We need another source of revenue and its not going to come from the billionaires or our paid representatives or those wonderful corporations everybody likes to shop at.
Just legalize it, industrial Hemp will bring back hundreds of products and businesses to the USA. The medical side will create jobs and relief for many people. Also if anyone has ever had a large grow for any length of time knows its a hell of alot of work most who don't grow now won't grow when its legal Just because of that.

Sorry for the long winded post

Agree with everything you said except this. ^^^ Be aware when you spread this you are spreading a lie made up by politicians solely for them to retain their power while they pit one side of the country against the other. The other side does the same thing with slogans against "your" side. The treasury's being raided by the corrupt political elite and laughing their asses off as we spout slogans at each other. As long as they can pit "us" against "them" they can keep playing their shell game. Don't look too close.

Haha - You're spooked that when you made a comment on my post I went to see who you were? On a public forum? That's kind of the point don't you think... And honestly, I was just trying to see how old you are because most of the time I hear arguments similar to yours they are either someone young or someone profiting a lot off of the fact that it is illegal and thus more expensive.

My point is that by hemming, hawing and over-thinking you risk ending up with no legalization instead of some idealized version that you have decided on. So people end up continuing to be arrested, unable to grow, and then the political winds shift a little and any chance of getting a bill pushed through is gone. Politics is about compromise (and cynically, money). You are never going to get your "perfect bill". And the fact is if you're growing/selling and evading taxes illegally now, there's nothing to say you won't be doing the same regardless of what law is in place. So, it doesn't even make it any worse for those people. It just makes it better for people that have a reason for not wanting to break the law...
