Campton man convicted of manufacturing marijuana
Jul 31, 2015
CONCORD — Donald Feith, Acting United States Attorney for the District of New Hampshire, today announced that a federal jury in Concord has found Peter Apicelli, 31, of Campton, guilty of federal marijuana manufacturing charges.
According to the evidence at trial, in September 2013, Apicelli was renting a property in Campton.
Following a tip, law enforcement investigated and found an outdoor marijuana grow on the property about 200 yards from the residence. A law enforcement temporary surveillance camera then captured video of a male individual wearing a red back-pack and tan shorts tending to the plants on Sept. 14.
After obtaining a search warrant for the house, police located an indoor marijuana grow in the basement, drying marijuana, packaged marijuana, scales and other packaging materials, as well as evidence indicating that Apicelli lived there, including a red backpack and tan shorts. All told, over 120 marijuana plants were seized from the house and grounds.
Apicelli was found guilty of one count of manufacturing marijuana, which carries a maximum term of imprisonment of five years. He is scheduled to be sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge Joseph DiClerico on Nov. 12.
This matter was jointly investigated by the Campton Police Department, the Grafton County Sheriff’s Office, and the New Hampshire State Drug Task Force, with assistance from the New Hampshire State Police Forensic Laboratory. The case is being prosecuted by Acting U.S. Attorney Donald Feith and Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles L. Rombeau.
