First of all......Ahoy2Uall :D

This will be my very first attempt, basically it's an intro to the world of indoor growing.
I'm thinking of building a grow box from my old computer desk which is 40 cm x 50 cm x 80 cm height (1.31 x 1.65 x 2.62 in foot i think) approximately 2.14 ft/sq.
I'm reading a lot of threats-posts-articles-etc...etc....etc....for weeks now (maybe 2 weeks) and i'm thinking of buying a 150 HPS lamp with 2 big computer fans for cooling the place down and the lamp2 (1 on top and 1 at the side). I'm going 2 build a handmade carbon filter and the reflector by my own.
I know the temp in there will be extremely high due to the fact that the space is veeeery small (for 2 maybe 3 plants) and i need your opinion.

Should i go with the HPS or buy CFL????? or MH for this space???
If i go with HPS.... which HPS should i buy (70 or 150)
If CFL.... which CFLs??? (not brand....WATT!!!!!)

If anyone wants to drop a line or two and help me with this, it will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If anyone knows an e-shop that sells lamps and ships them to Europe feel free to post the link PLEASE

well to save money you can get cfls then that way you dont have to buy the biggest most expsensive fan cuz the hp light makes it hott hott hott in that little space plus the space is small so i would paint it white on the inside and hook up at least 10 lights to get started and that way you only need one descent fan to do the job

Computer fans are no where adequate for the air you will need moveing around the grow room.personaly i would not call this a grow room has for the size sounds to me to be perfect for cloneing and keeping the mothers in.i suppose that i am lucky working in the building trade so i work with guys who deal with all asspects off all the building trades.i'm a joiner so makeing a grow room was no problem.i have worked with a few electricians has well and airconditioning guys so that put me in good stead.first of all does the comp unit have wood sides all the way around it apart from the front,if the answer is yes then put two doors on the front make sure that they meet perfectly.but to be honest mate the best grow unit to start has a newbie i would say is a wardrobe these are ready made for you.fit the inside out with white polly reflective material,or mylar is better than any other reflective materiel about today.cover the bottom 3 ft in mylar and the rest in polly white reflective materiel.then you want to buy two of the kitchen exaust fans these are more subbstansial than bathroom ones drill two holes harf way up the wardrobe and fit the unit inside the room by unit i mean the bit that contains the fan.if you can put a plug on you can fit the fans easy take them apart and all you have to do is put the wires where it tells you on the diagram.the next step is a ossalateing fan have this just below the light this will take some of the heat away from the plants and the other fans will take the stagnent air out of the room.and then be replaced by fresh air from your oss fan.a 250 watt fan will see you in good stead to grow round about 5 plants at a push.you can use this for veg and bloom and do a smaller version for cloneing, but use flouresnts and cfl's 2 4 ft flouresents on chains so you can lower them just above the plants when they are clones.the reason it is good to have wooden sides is so you can fit 2 cfl's one at each side you want the low energy ones that will kick out the same has a 150 watt light.there you have it the newbies grow op.

HPS is gonna get hot in that small space, get a bunch of CFL's (like 4-6 per plant) it'll be cheaper and cooler. Try to find Seemore Buds book on growing with CFL's, it's called something like "grow 8oz of bud for less than $100", I read it a while back, lots of good info in there

First of all......

heathaa, tyke1973, dakotajacksmith, top44 ....... THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!

So what you are saying is that i should use CFLs right?

Right!!!

The desk is made from wood, it has 4 drawers and i've already paint the inside white. (i can't find mylar in my crappy hometown)

I know that you need over 7000 Lumens per sq for flowering-growing etc and with CFLs you obviously need a lot of them.
How many of them and which kind of them do i need. I'm saying that because in my hometown we only have some crappy one's which only produce (+-)500 lumens each and with a simple multiplication you get 15 or more of these......which sucks because 15 CFLs in a space like that......how can i feat them???

That's why i thought that using the HPS lamp is a good idea, a really HOT idea ;)
