My 1st Seed grow journal

My Aerograrden pro100 has just been made over. It has two lines of pumped air from a fish pump and air stones. Bought one pump from Petsmart and it comes with a lifetime warranty. $9.00 plus tubing and a small splitter for two lines and two airstones All together about $18.99.

I poured perfectly balanced PH water, warmed it slightly first, into the Aerogarden and started the air pumping. This will give my water the Co2 it needs soon to grow my plants.

There is a humidy and temp meter placed beside the Aerogarden.

I have put the newly required Nirvana seeds in a cup for germination on top of my pellet stove. Thick heavy ceramic cup with a lid on top. All sunk within 4 hours. Seeds are starting to crack and can see green. Not long now.

While waiting, I prepared the "Master Gardener" pods. I took the foam out and used a toothpick and made it a little more airrid. I cut tiny holes, 2 in each side so the roots don't have to struggle to emerge.

Just waiting for the taproot to emerge and into the Aero they go. Starting with 7 seeds in hopes to get 2-3 plants.

See me grow!!!!!!

Please note. I am a growing virgin. Not just this plant, but all plants. I didn't even grow one in school. So, if I can do it, anyone can grow.

5 of the seeds cracked and produced a taproot. Decided to go ahead and plant them. Wondering if people wait too long and cause rot or not long enough to make sure they will grow. I don't know, but they are in. 2 more are still in the ceramic cup and may crack by tomorrow. I can see a small thin green coming so I think they are ok. Yeah Nirvana

I put the seed in the foam, ironed on the lables and inserted them into the slots. The water is working perfectly and the pump is really putting some air in that basin. Hopefully it isn't too much.

I used the tomatoes setting. I know you all say the greens setting, but something I learned at the clinic was that Tomato grow about the same. Thats why they hide them in tomato beds. So, we will find out.

Temp is 78 degrees and 34% humidity. I will raise the humidity when they bust out of their pods.

Oh please grow

11:00 Trained lights to go off during my hours
Added 1 Tsp Hydro-shield
Added 1/5 capful of Fox Farm

We will see if the additives hurt or help. I think the Hydro was a really good idea and hope it will help

Everything is functioning, but still have two seeds to crack out of seven. 1 definately is on its way....I'm worried about the runt. We will see.

Lights are on and set to shut off at 11:30pm.

Could not stand it. I wasn't sure if things were working or not and was going nuts. Its terrible, its like Christmas......I can't wait.

Had to check a pod. Just one....or two.....OK ALL DAMN 5 OF THEM. Caught me

There are rooting and doing fantastic. My babies will live.....for a little while at the very least.

Checked the cup and I believe we have two late bloomers just crackin along. I see a bright strip of green and that is so encouraging. At 10 bazillion dollars a friggen seed, I'm thinking a seed batch might be nice so I can grow in the future and have a ton of seeds. Mmmmmmm interesting crossroads.

Oh just give me two girls at least please Aerogarden Gods.

As far as the pictures go, I figured I would get over this little tumor biopsy thingy tomorrow and a major final on Friday. Working on it. Also, I am sure you have not seen enough of those damn aerogardens with nothing happening. If not, please direct yourself to the Aerogarden web site. Its pretty stunning. Don't know about you, but if there isn't something really cool to look at, I don't put it in pictures.

The Aerogarden works really well. I'm not sure about adding nutes, even such a minute amount, this early on... But if it works for you, go for it.

When the plants become a decent size, you'll obviously want to increase the FoxFarm nutes. I found Tomatos/Peppers to be a good setting early on, with Herbs/Basil for flowering. Just keep in mind that many plants are not going to be able to fit in the Aerogarden as they get larger; this may require you to not only thin out the undesirables, but also likely move the pods around a bit. Thankfully, you'll be able to do this before the roots tangle too much.

Thank you, dear. And yes, you will need additional lighting, but not at the moment. It'll be a little while. The CFLs in the hood aren't bad, but you can buy better. They do produce light in the right spectrum for early vegetative growth, thankfully.

There is one seed in the aero that seems to want to push up out of the foam. Hope thats ok. I can see the sprouts.

2 seeds in cup still. One is definately crackin and will plant it tomorrow. The other one shows signs but is very shy. We will give her a while longer.

Aerogarden working flawlessly. No problems at all, lights come on, lights go off.

Two are up into the dome and just growing quickly. Wow these things don't waste any time.

Planted the last two today, however one was cracked but the other may end up being a tard or just plain dead. If two make it, we will be happy!!

Need to add more water soon it looks like. Will check PH this evening.

If you have some duds that don't appear after a while, replace them. It's easy to do before roots have penetrated the pod sponge. Trust me, you want to have a chance for some femmes to show themselves, and statistically, two plants is not promising.

Hi,

I completely understand, but they all have roots coming out of them now. Some are pokey thats all. LOL I will replace the 1 if it doesn't do much more soon. All the rest are rooting very well. Is it normal for them to pop up this quick?

Oh yes. The delivery system for the Aerogarden seems to make them grow like... weeds. More so than in any system I've built or seen otherwise, except for commercial cloners. When you move on your next grow, and if you decide to try something else, you'll still probably want to keep the Aerogarden around as a cloning system, at the very least.

Given that the Aerogarden performs so well for small grows and is so well suited to new growers, I think you're going to enjoy the growing process all that much more. It's nice to see the fruits of your labour so dramatically... But you'll probably enjoy smoking it more.

Is this possible? The first dome had to come off because this little plant is tall like me. LOL It is the left rear next to the light post. I just know shes a girl because she is already out of the dome in three days. Girls rock!!!!

Is that normal? Advice, help, comments???

Yes it is normal. Plants will strtch to reach the light. The propagator stops you from getting it close enough. Prop it up and your oscillating fan blowing gently by them for a few days will strengthen the stem, it will be fine. Good to see steady progress, keep it up. VV

Thank you!! Yeah, I thought about the fan thing, I was hoping to have a few more come up first. I can see them rooting, but they have not popped up like these two have. Each is a different strain which is cool too but would like to have 7 to choose from and not 2 so far.

Why is it that some seeds grow slower than others? Is there an explanation for this? Since I have NO CLUE about gardening what so ever it would be helpful.

My Mom grew the most beautiful garden every year that I have ever seen. She had the healthiest plants and the best veggies and fruits. One thing I remember is that she tended them all the time and was methodical in her ways. Maybe this is the key? Mmmmmmmmmm

I forgot to tell you all what I am growing, silly me

Aurora Indica and Papaya

Will grow some Sativa in the pods that don't sprout. Wanted to try straight Indica cookies first and see what happens.
