My basalt is growing fungus?

I went to get some basalt and discovered it appears to be growing fungus?



Is this a common thing? Am I storing it incorrectly? Is this a problem?

What was tote used for before? Sterile or perhaps pre-existing funk? If you're lucky it's beneficial.

Tote was new. Never used before. I’m wondering if it’s safe to use or could it be harmful?

Wish I had some of this laying around now. I threw it away few years ago by accident

just let it stay open for a while in the sun so any rest water will evaporate.

once dry, there will be hardly any fungus.

but a closed plastic & temp changes can always condensate some rH to form liquid drops..

btw does it smell typically like mold/fungi?

Not really. I can’t discern any abnormal smell to it
