My beautiful babies/ First Closet Grow

This is my first grow. I'm growing California Orange bud (60/40 indica/sativa). The seeds were germinated a week and a half ago and I think they're doing well. Right now they are under a 150 watt hps, and I will be adding two dual spectrum flourescents when I start flowering. Just looking for some input, and does anyone know when the best time to start flowering would be? I don't want them EXTREMELY tall since my closet isn't huge, want a decent yield but nothing huge. Of course they're not showing their sex yet so I'm not sure how many females I have. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Nice. Since we're sharing...

It will be 3 weeks since they sprouted from seed on Thursday. I'm hoping to transplant them into my hydro system by next weekend.

Back to your plants, it will be a while before they start to show sex. Should be right around the time you induce flowering, either just before or a little after.

Very nice! So when do you recommend that I start flowering? A month or so? I've read that if you don't want them to get too tall you should start flowering when they have four sets of new leaves and 8-12 inches tall...would you agree?:blsmoke:

I sure would. I plan on inducing flowering at approx. 12". The girl pictired in the middle is the weakest. I may give her a little extra time to catch up to the others. We'll see what happens. I just checked all of the root structures and I now feel confident that I can transplant them in a couple of days. I'm looking forward to not having to feed them by hand every six hours!

No kidding I bet you are. Well thanks for your help. I'm amazed that I was even able to do this, have never grown ANYthing before. It's so much fun. I can't wait until mine are looking like yours, but I guess it's only a matter of a couple weeks.

Yep, this is a very fun hobby. I grew a couple of plants about 10 years ago in my back yard that grew taller than 6ft. I had to pull them before they could bud. Those were the only plants I have ever successfully grown, so I figured I'd finally bite the bullet and get serious about it while I have the cash to make it happen. Best of luck to you. Be sure and update as often as you can. I'll try to do the same.

:leaf:I definitely want to see your plants when you move them to the hydro system! Are you using a DWC? Here's what mine are looking like now, they've done some growing in just three days. The two in the middle are growing much slower, not sure why. I've added a flourescent light to the hps and plan on adding one more this weekend.:leaf:

Just like yourself i don't have a lot of space either... i started mine in 12/12 when they were 6 nodes high. And for the slackers that aren't growing as quick, they might be females :)

Just an update...
My babies are doing well...have had some problems with some leaves turning yellow and crisping away (tops and bottoms of plants) but I think it was just some chemical burn and it's only really noticeable on one of them. And it's a tall one so I'm thinking it's a male anyway.
Starting flowering tomorrow!!

I'll keep that it mind. I'm really ready for them to let me know what sex they are. I don't have enough light for six plants and they are crowded and fighting each other for the light, bottom leaves are starting to yellow/brown and wither. The tops of them look extremely healthy and happy...They'll be okay, though, right? Someone reassure me. I'm thinking as soon as they show their sex and I can get rid of a couple and they'll have more room. :blsmoke:

since you are going hydro make sure you ph, and ppm your water and make sure the light isn't too closse especially if you are gettin burnt and curled leaves. jmo... later

I'm testing and adjusting the ph daily...I don't have a ppm/tds meter but I have been aging the water 3 days before putting it in the reservoir. The lights aren't too close, the only problem is that two of the plants are half the height of the other four so they aren't getting ENOUGH light...so those two are kind of struggling.
My biggest issue is that I really would like to know the sex so I can get rid of the males and the light will be more evenly distributed to the girls.
I've been on 12/12 for about a week. I'm posting a new pic, can anyone tell any signs of sex yet? The picture might not be good enough but I'm giving it a shot...
Thanks!! Any help is definitely appreciated.
