Too many cooks spoil the broth so I decided to take over our NFT grows. Trouble is I'm stumped as to why I'm at EC 2.3 on day 13 of 12:12. I'm growing hungry indicas (OG Kush, cheese) but I'm already on max level and my girls are looking hungry. Everytime I increase the EC they look better but they are about to pistil. Do I have a lockout? Is that possible in NFT? He's not going to be happy if I fluff this.

The reason for a high ec is that there is a ton of nutrients in the solution. Add water to get it down a lot. Are any of your leaf tips brown and crispy. If yes, nute burn it is. I am about to harvest tonight and my ec up till my flush was 1.1 max before nute burn kicked in. That ec you have sounds deadly. Nft systems might need more ec for whatever reason. But, my hydro system only needed 1.1 ec till then end of flowering.

Like I said nft may be different. But for every other method available to growers general knowledge is a max 1.3 ec at height of flowering. Obviously giant plants do not fall into that category. And with normal methods clones cannot take that high. Also, I was growing ak47 which is a light feeder.
I am sorry, are any of your leaf tips brown and crispy?

Well Canna say EC 2.4 at max flowering, like week 5. Those recs are guidelines aren't they? 2.3 is high, that's why I started this thread.

That is why everyone says do not use the directions on those things. I did what you did originally with advanced nutrients and killed 6 plants pretty fast that way. I personally have not gotten over 1.3 in an ebb and flow without starting to see burn? Are your leaf tips brown and crispy?

OK. As long as no tips are brown you are fine. You might just be over watering or having some other ailments. Over watering will cause the plants to wilt a bit. Nft probably needs a higher ec since the roots aren't submerged in water for a half hour or so. Just make sure the pH is good. The plants will not start perking up because of higher ec. If it was too low you would see deficiencies. The leafs would be really light colored. When I see the pics it will help. I just wanted to see if I could help you without them.

NFT works by continual watering. All plants perk up even more when EC raised by 0.2 each time. I'm wary of my EC level and wonder if lockout is possible. Its weird. Ph 5.6-6.0

It is very high. But if they are perking up it is from another reason other than ec rise. The only thing ec will do is make the leaves darker green from the nitrogen and stop cal mag deficiencies. (No yellowing of internal part of leaves) Whatever you do during that time has something to do with it. Could you be continuously watering too fast a speed of water flow. Then when you add nutes you turn it off and the roots get some air during that time?

I have and do run canna full strength! With zero issue yes its high but seems to work great!

if i were running AN or any other nute company i would not use there feeding charts.
canna has real stable nutes and i trust them at full strength. Although light feeders
i handle differently.

Lah if your ph is good and your ppm isn't raising as the water is used then you could add.
but if its going up then your feeding to high.

Here's the cheese (grown from seed)

The biggest plant always looks hungriest

The new growth has funny colour until I add 10-20ml A B

More worried about burning the pistils on the OG

The PH had stayed in range after the initial adjustment to 5.8 2 days ago.

It stated on the Canna Aqua website that the PH would stay buffered.

I would like to say no it isn't rising as I check every morning but it's hard to say as I've been increasing the EC by 0.1-0.2 every day. I've noticed the PH drift up when I change the tank and add fresh nutes for the first day or two but never the EC. All I can be sure of is, that about 2 hours after I feed them they colour up. They got cannazym yesterday 2.5ml/L and they perked up a lot. I changed to aqua Flores on day 6 because I thought they looked a bit blue.

It looks like pretty healthy plants. If you add ec you will not notice any related effects for a bit. I don't see how you correlate that with the health of the plant and how it reacts when you raise the ec. New growth is typically a different color than the rest. I don't see any pistils really. Looks like the new growth leaf tips before they sprout the pistils if you are in flowering. And possibly the beginning stages.

could be bad, as they grow old growth will
look darker and new will look pale this is
normal

I run my cannazyme at 10mil per gal.
and I don't use the ec scale I use ppm

going int flower at 800ppm and by week
5 I'm at 1100 and then back down to
800 by week 8

This is false. I know for a fact that greenhouse seeds Inc keeps there babies at a EC of 1.6_1.8 and pushes some strains over 2 after week 4
