its been 10 days since i made my clone cutting. ive never did a clone before, so what i did was put a little air pump through a tub-a-wear container filled it up w. water and let the end of the stem sit in the water/bubbles.. yesterday i seen the first actual root come out, here's a pic of it todayclone enolc.jpeg should i see more roots come out in next couple of days?

Next time, take a razor blade and lightly scrape off the plants skin on the stem from the cut to about 1/2" up the stem. This will encourage faster and more even root growth.

I ve never heard of anybody doing it like that! if that works id love to see it. Ive only ever heard of using cloning power/get rooting hormone to root cuttings. You might wanna try it, cloning gel is surprisingly cheap ($8-$20), and i think youll have a better chance of success. But if your gonna do it that way, try cutting TINY v shaped notches on the end of the stem where it hits the water, it worked wonders for me (I was using rooting hormone but the idea is the same).

I have always had trouble scraping the skin off, I think my blades are too sharp; I end up just cutting the end off. Instead I cut the base of the stem down lengthwise, twice, forming separate quarters. I dunno how much it helps though, as with the bubble cloner I often get my first roots at the node where I trimmed off the fan leaves, or on the outside of the quarters I split. I had tried to cone several times through the years and never had any luck till I built a cheap bubbler. It almost seems like I can't fail with the bubbler, the roots just seem to love to grow in it :) I also dip them in rooting hormone, and add a very mild (1/8 of the recommended) dose of iron. Again, not sure if I need it. GL!

oh yea, just wondering; how far should i put it in the soil? its about a 7 in. cut... with 2 sets of leaves trimmed off.

only asking cause i see people with clones and they put the whole stem in the pot, with the fan leaves on the surface of the soil/barely above it

nope, i just cut it off my plant(indoor) let it sit in water, its just been sitting in my room w. no cfl/ any special light... i'll mist it a couple times aday with a spray bottle so it's pretty moist/humid.

yea i didn't wanna spend ANY money doing this. so i guess this is a cheap and effective way to clone
