My first ever grow, Learning the ropes.

Sorry, this first entry may be a bit long...

So i germinated some seeds, Purely out of curiosity. Just to see what those seeds I had sitting in a bag where capable of. Few days later i had roots, and a bit more motivation.

Currently I kept one of the seeds, its in a small plastic cup that i cut small slits on, and near the bottom for drainage. I planted it on 11-24-10 by next day it had broken ground, and is currently growing

I plan on germinating and planting another seed from a separate pickup that a friend recently got. So rather then some unknown pickup i know where this seed came from.

Let me just mention this now, its nothing fancy...

Moving on to the grow box. The goal here is to keep it small. I don't have much space to work with, so this grow may not turn out very well. Its made from an old clothes hamper, sounds odd but was a perfect fit. Currently for lighting i have a 4 way light adapter that i plan on putting in (All i have for the time) 4 I guess only 13w It says something about 60w on the box but pretty sure there only 13. 6500K Daylight CFLs. They put out 800 Lumens each. I also have a few more CFLs that are the warm light that i can add in later once i get more lighting fixtures

I have a computer fan Rigged to the side of the box going outward. So far that is it for ventilation. The box itself is fairly easy to get air in so the outtake fan should be fine enough to cover any heat for now.

I have two pots the perfectly fit the bottom of the box these will be the pots i will use later on to plant my seedlings into there final home.

Now as i said the goal is small, i plan on topping and keeping the plant pruned. Hoping this will help in the endeavor...

As for my personal knowledge I have been researching how this stuff works for a long time... I know it is possible to grow small. Otherwise i would not bother.

to anyone reading this, I'm open to suggestions and ideas/opinions.

So my first little seedling is about 4 days old and is looking sad

Any Advice that could help her out would be nice... I did make a few changes in the box over the past few days so maybe thats whats up, The leaves have been coming in sorta odd like that since it shed its shell... If you can see it the second set of actual marijuana leaves are coming in so maybe they will look better...

As for my second plant i just put the germinated seed in soil yesterday, Pictures and update when it sprouts.

Looking good for your first grow ! looks like its indica ! perfect for your small grow, thoughs daylight CFL's are perfect, i wish i had a 4 way adapter :[ ... im working on getting more cash to get daylight cfl's...

Hey thanks man, I got the connector for like 10bucks. My second sprout came out today. I'll have more pics tomorrow i think. Just save up a bit here and there and buy things as you go, thats what i'm doing.

Alright sprout number 2 is looking nice, It came up yesterday.

My first plant's second set of "Pot" leaves came in, and there looking way better then the first

Gave um a bit of water today. not much els to share.

oh Um the bigger plant is about 6 days old, and the little one about 3 days.

DANG ! Your PLant Is Taking off! FAST GROWER ! i think its cuase your cfls are kicking ass, i think after seeing this im going to add more lights to mine :d , and yeah iv been saving up for new lights, i saw some LED lights on there for about 40 bucks little heat, low energy, and iv seen some good grow results from LED's on youtube so i think i might save up and give it a try...

im also intrested in seeing your set up {grow room} every ones is slightly different from the rest lookin forward to seeing your first sprout as an older one, what is the other strain of your second born ?

Its another bag seed, late germination that i did not have the heart to throw away

And that was only with 2 lights I just put the other two in today with the 4 way splitter, I can already notice new growth. These things grow fast.

I'll post some pics of the grow space soon, I gotta figure out some things. Those lights with the spllitter take up a allot of space on top, that with the pots does not leave much for growth.

Not sure how this will work out. And yeah man LED grows always look awesome.

Okay this box is sorta an odd grow setup, but it has needed elements. Not sure how this will work out in later stages though

First of all its made from a broken cloths hamper I fixed up to function as a growing containment, lol. I cut a door in the front this is what you can see, there is a pole down the middle. Its there to support. Not to much of a bother to get around. The inside is pure white, this picture does not show how bright this thing gets lol.



I have 4 daylight CFLs over them now, that thing is a cooler for an XBOX360 that kicks of when heat hits the sensor, It does a good job of keeping my lights from getting to hot, and only kicks on when i have the box sealed up.



I also have a PC fan wired to the side that is constantly bowing air out, if i wanted i could flip it over to blow air in.



And here you can see my two final pots for growing, the're not full yet.



Um i think the lighting i have will be okay, but i'll need either more side lighting or like some sideways CFLs on top, Its a small semi stealth grow, That if i wanted i can make look like its just a hamper with a bunch of cloths around it

Any ideas for my box are welcome

you could always use a cardbord box ;D haha iv seen some preetty cool stealthy grow areas, old dressers hallowed out, file cabnits, hidden closet areas, sertin areas of the yard closed off , attics,

how do you have your fan hooked up ?

Crap i have to re write my post again...

Um that fan is wired to a USB cord that is plugged into a connector so it can plug into the wall, don't ask how i did it... I blew fuses trying to wire lights thats why i bought that big connector...

I really like my box, but that 4 way things takes up so much space lol... The walls reflect allot of light. Its sorta hard to look into the thing my camera did not do a good job of showing that.. Lol And the bigger pots fit perfect in the bottom...

Meh I'll work on it, if anything it will make a good secondary veg box for smaller plants

yea how did you get that fan to run? what did you need to connect it to. also make sure you dont drown the poor guys and close but not burning close to the light. i like that cooling idea very original have you checked out ghetto growers group? lol it fits your current grow space but mines not much better lol my post is right above yours check it out sometime

im going to continue my response on your thread as to not high jack his thread,

if i can get enough clones to last untill .... feb ? maybe idk , ill plant a bunch of of clones out side some wear lol some old ladys yard jk jk ..... ha ha

i have a couple places i could ..... maybeeeee

I'll be sure to keep an eye on the how close they are. The fan is wired to a USB cord and then is plugged into an adaptor so i can plug it into the wall, And thanks I'm glad someone liked the fan idea lol, I like that it turns on and off instead of being on all the time.

I'm sure you can find a spot Hmm clones would be better. If you know there all female. I was just gonna chop down male plants if i saw them lol.
