My First Grow Box. Comments Please.

Hi, I just built my first grow cabinet. I have a 400w MH bulb for vegg and a 400w HPS for flower with a Xtrasun reflector. A 400w MH/HPS electric Lumatek Ballast. My friend and I built a 62"x45"x22" cabinet out of 1/2" plywood. I went to the opening of a new Hydroponics store down the street and got loaded up with swag I'm gonna use free nutrients I got for my first grow floraNova Grow and Bloom. Anyways this site was the most useful tool when learning about cultivating, And everyones is so cool, So i thought i would update the site with my personal experience. I need to keep learning if I'm ever gonna be any good. So if you have any ideas of ways I can improve my growing, please leave a comment.

I Built a custom air intake and a carbon scrubber. I'll put some pictures up.

This is the intake that is in my cabinet its a bathroom fan that i hooked up to some ducting.

This is the the intake hose. It leads to main room, But its hidden.

This is my carbon scrubber, I took a chimney cap wrapped it in steel mesh, then stuffed it with activated carbon sealed the inside with more mesh. It gets great air pull.

I could be wrong but it doesnt look like you are pulling any air through your hood. If you exhaust your room through your hood it will dramatically reduce your temps. But looking sick man props! Happy growing.

^+1. Usually those hoods cost a bit more; would be easy to hook up another duct to the light.

nice set up man, i just swithed to a 400mh from a hps, dying to see the diff it makes from the start, space is like mine.

Thanks for the great responses. About me not venting through my hood, I heard that you get better results when you dont have glass separating your light from the plants, so I took the glass off and ended up venting the whole cabinet. Does the no glass thing really help?

I have heard both cases. But my dads 400 with glass seems to do fine, n my buddies without seems to be about the same.

So today i put my germinated seeds into these cups to grow until their big enough for the big buckets.
