My First Grow Done In A Stealth Cabinet (SOG), What Do Experienced Growers Think?

Hey guys this is my first time growing ever, and i decided to do a Stealth Cabinet SOG grow, I did a fair amount of research before building anything, and i just wanted the opinions of experienced growers on what they think of my set up

This is the outside (still need to connect duct to window)

This is the inside ( I have 2 6 inch fans, 1 for each side)
on the far left - clones under ledge - veg on top of ledge - flowering on other side
each side has 2 60 watt indoor plant veg lights

This is the clones grow area
it allows some light in from veg area by the left side there, the right side is a homemade vent.
I use a 12" floro 8 watt light (is this enough)

This is the flowering side
Both sides use a carbon activated fiber with an inline 170cfm fan (that will be linked to outside)
about 24" of grow space for the buds,

Im planning to do a two week grow/harvest cycle of four plants.
at the moment im growing 5 seeds all "the church" from ghs to find a suitable mother to clone.
I built everything except for the cabinet for around 270$, Im growing in soil and will be using a Miracle Grow for vegging

What Does everyone think? Any Questions just Ask!

I'm not a fan of fixed cfl lighting the ability to have a non fixed light illuminating a non fixed(growing) plant is by far more flexible than fixing it all and expecting the plant to grow towards the light, it will ...but will take 'time' too achieve

ill be raising and lowering the plants accordingly with trays, that way i can lower or raise them about an inch at a time. what do you think?

Nice looking cabinet you have there. Start searching for short seeds if you only have 24" of room for buds. Good luck on your grow and I hope you get a bunch of fat frosty buds to enjoy!

Hanging those bulbs in the 2 socket V, substantially cuts down on PAR from the CFL's, like over 66% of light is reduced when hanging them that way. Either hang them from the side [since they are omni-directional, not directional] or get a solid reflector, like a reptile light. If you want to grow the frostiest, get your efficiency as tip-top as it can be. :peace:


Like your setup, hate the mylar, [krinkles will only randomize light patterns not reflect them] mylar has to be COMPLETELY smooth for it to reach the efficiency rating that is commonly cited. Krinkled will only add hotspots too.

Why not just buy the LED light bulbs from Home Depot? Much much better PAR [photosynthetic available radiation] than incandescent or CFl's.

The Cree 9.5 watt/ 60w equivalent ---Warm White and DayWhite are tough to beat. Check out Captain Morgan's grow's with just Cree's. https://www.rollitup.org/led-other-lighting/656542-flowering-cree-bulbs-68.html


I would at least use CFL's over the incandescent. That thing has a low life span + what spectrum is it actually producing and at what intensity [Not LUMENS]!!!!!!

Not a terrible choice in a pinch for veg, but not ideal either.

the veg side looks good, i would stuff a cooltube with an hps in the other side.but thats just me. can be somewhat costly, and complicated but worth it in the end. as far as "stealth" id say your good at first glance but i would hide the vent somehow, and seal the light leaks and you shoudnt have a problem, and put a fan or humidifier, computer, something to blame for the fan noise on top of it. i passed the stealth test with a humidifier, right in front of my landlord.

and yes, mylar, white paint, than tin foil if its a must, i used tinfoil but i control my hot spots with fans

Nice! thats some stealthing! yes i have a 5 inch bending duct work to hook up to my window exhaust fan (ill take pictures later), i dont have it hooked up yet for the simple fact that i just planted my 5 seeds haha and the duct work will run behind my curtain, ill also have a fan on top of the counter to mask the sound like you suggested, i may try a humidifier or de-humidifier if needed, my only issue is the light leak for my intake, its on the far right side of the cabinet, its impossible for me to stealth a duct to bring in fresh air, also im in cold canada so to heat the air coming in would be another issues entirely, for now i just push my garbage can in front a little, i cant cover it too much or things over heat.

SO right! i use mylar and it IS a pain in the ass to keep completely smooth i use foil tape and staplegun, works good better than tin foil though i bet.

you can make a baffle or kind of a false wall inside to block the light, or maybe pvc tubes with the inside painted black? i make cardboard light shields with foil tape on the outsides

Yes! Foil tape is like 50% of it haha, i used it and the tinfoil to cover to big spots

hmm a black hanging baffle would work well thanks!

What I have used in the past, is a 2 part spray adhesive or just a 1 part quick tack.. and home-made roller [soup can :)]. Spray on side of mylar, spray on cabinet wall, apply mylar and roll.

I used to be a tradesman [interiors] and I hate wrinkles in general, lol.

Alternatives for Mylar:

Yes white paint [not ideal either], recently I have tried the higher temp epoxy paints, not too impressed either, but certainly off gasses less under heat.

I love the Soup can trick, when I redo my cabinet i , may use mylar, im el broke and used as little funding as possible
