My first grow- light help

Hey im new by the way :D

Im a stoner right and i think to myself"eyyy why not grow" so i start, i have a flouresent energy saver lightbulb i use , it lets off VERY high lumens.
Is this what i should use?
Also should i use a light while my plant is germinating?

you can use that all the way through the veg. cycle, i recommend using more the one especially if you plan on growing more than one plant. but if possible i would flower with an HID light like metal halide or high pressure sodium.

waht does HID light look like?

and should i put the light 2 inches from teh soil even though the seeds arnt germinated yet?

this is my 400w HPS (high pressure sodium) light. HID stands for high intensity discharge.

i always keep my light on them even they arent popped through the soil yet. i do this because the will grow toward the light, and the warmth of the light aids in this step.

I will post again when they have sprouted.
oh and by the way im growing purple something, so purple buds. thinking of getting some new seeds aswell and properly setting up growing.

Also should i get myself a few more of those flourecent lights?

i personally love fluorescent lights for germinating and veg. i would get as many as you can handle. you can grow nice plants up to 2 ft tall with a couple compact fluorescents. and keep the lights about 2" aways from the tallest part of your plants. you will have to keep a close eye on them because after the first 1 week they really take off.

Can they not get bigger than 2ft under a few flourecents?
Also can you help me with setting up the grow area? what should i use can you make me a list of the things i need to buy?would be VERY helpful

fluorescent light only penetrates 2 ft. you stagger them around the plants in order to give light to the rest of the plant. id be glad glad to list a few things you might need. but i need to know a few things like; size of the grow room, how much youre willing to spend, how many plants youre trying to grow, security issues. stuff like that

Well i have a very small growing area its like a part of my room errrm dunno how big but not v big about enough for like 5 plants? so not many and i can spend up to £100 security is ok i cant charge the bill up too much though

the best thing to do is check out the prices around there.you could probably get a 250watt MH bulb for around $120. but this is only good for 2, maybe 3, plants. i would try to save more money first before trying to grow. i saved up for about a month and bought everything i needed all at once.

i have on a 1.3mt*1.00mt* 2.00mt high 16 plants under one 400w son t pia plus, two 100w osram vialox and 3 70w osram and philips lamps ...is that enough ??? 2º week flowering...
