My First Growbox/Grow...Suggestions? Help?

Hello all, This is my first growbox and attempt at growing. I read alot before starting but i sure could use some help along the way if anyone is willing.

I was going to buy a PC growbox, and then decided to make my own, and then decided to try it another way and this is my box...

It is a 3 shelf bookcase from walmart. the dimensions are 30 x 12 x 32. I chose this because i wanted to grow more than one plant at a time and gives me a little room for expansion if i want to try other strains with LST.

I covered the whole inside with mylar and cut a piece of wood to enclose it, covered with mylar. i bought a power strip and attached it to the roof of the box, and then utilizing bulb adapters and 2 way bulb adapters, i have 8 26W (100W equivalent) GE CFL bulbs 2700 temp and 1750 lumens each running in the box.

I cut holes in one side of the box for air flow in and i have a little fan on the other side of the box for blowing air out. the reason i went with a bookshelf is now i can easily adjust the shelf closer or further away from the bulbs as my plant grows (hopefully).

I germinated 3 lowryder #2 seeds in paper towels and they all got off to a great start before i planted. as you can see in the pic, i had 3 pots/plants going, but only 2 fit directly under the light and one was off to the side.

I understood that the bulbs should be as close to possible to the plants without touching them and so thats what i did. unfortunately the center plant seems to have died, the seed looking almost burnt. i only watered when the top soil looked dry and crusted like i read with overwatering being a problem with newbies but maybe i underwatered?

The plant that was NOT directly under the light seems to be doing the best, looking real good to me at least.

I am now one week into the grow after germinating in the paper towel and i think thats all the info i have for now but im very welcome to any suggestions and help or questions, i will keep checking into the thread and posting pix.

Thanks for looking.

you need to get some 6500k cfls to start off with.

the kelvin temp of the 2700ks is to low for a seedling!
