My first indoor grow

So this is the first time I have ever grown indoors. I have only grown twice before this and both times it's been outside. Right now I have 3 plants that just finished their 36 hour dark period to transfer into the 12/12 light cycle with a HPS 400. The grow area is 8x5x4 but we only have one light so we keep our mother plant and the 8 clones we have under the one HID light 24 hrs and move the flowering ones into a dark room. Is this badly affecting my clones, they already have well established roots. I keep cuttings under a cfl for 2 weeks before transplanting and moving into the HID light. Is this going to negitivly affect their growth since its under a HPS and not a MH for the veggy period? Should I just let em veg under the CFL?
