My first majic shroom growkit

Light not needed, hydroton in that setup is bound to be an algae problem, must be tiny since it only holds 3 1/2 pint jars, need to either drill holes into it or buy the "upgrade" X-TREME Environment Auto Air Exchanger and Humidifier (+$39.95 USD) which is probably more junk, is a terrible kit at a terrible price, a total rip off. You can set up a real grow for less with much better quality and yield.

Eh, I dunno. I'm sure you'll probably get something out of it but like choempi said you can do a lot more for less. For around $50, you can get all the materials (including spores) to do 10 jars like that. Plus most of the stuff can be used again. Those jars look like plastic to me so I doubt you can PC or boil them to use again. For me, part of the fun was procuring all the simply, everyday items and putting them together to make "magic" happen. This isn't exactly rocket science man, especially PF Tek which is what this kit essentially is.

Hey Sim ....
The kit is cute at best ... but a mere toy ..... in every way.
We have some wild MYCO-TECHS here ...
with a couple of hours of research and some questions ... my kind brother
you can build a better start up for the fraction of the price.

Thanks guys... So how do I start building my own small
grow kit??? Or is there a better grow kit online?
Just google PF Tek. I think the instructions I followed the first time were the ones that came up from shroomery. As a matter of fact, I think it was copied verbatim from the original PF Tek book. It's very simple.

If you have any specific questions, I'm sure a number of people would be happy to help you out. For me, learning all the new terms was one of the hardest parts. Had no idea what "birth", "flush" or any of the common myco acronyms meant.

Here I saved you the trouble.

PF Tek

There are a few things that might be a little dated. Mainly the stuff about the dual chamber terrarium. Seems like nowadays most people opt for the shotgun terrarium. You can look that one up for yourself. :)

From my relatively limited experience, I think the main points to take home are getting the right jars, getting the vermiculite/brown rice flour/water mix right, and just general cleanliness. And patience of course.

that was kind of you finding the link for him! Just follow the pf tek man its really easy and cheap. Only expenses as of now would be a pressure cooker which is not necessary and the spores which are like 15 a syringe tops
