So today i started with my first PC. Its not completely done, i still need to install a carbon filter and a really cool light system i made.
But this is what i got so far. LMK.
(IMHO, idk if its because its mine or what, but this looks soooo much more nice than anyone elses ive seen on here)

I used Tiger reflective foam for the walls along with some nice aluminum nature tape.
I used a small refrigerator rack for the starting stand AND when its time to put them under neath to grow into.
I have 3 12v fans. 2 intake (a .14 amp and a .19 amp). 1 exhaust (.24amp).

WHATS GOING IN...
a 3 lightbulb fixture for 2 23watt CFL and a 26watt CFL
a fluorescent tubing on the top.
a carbon filter for the exhaust fan.
and last, but DEFINITELY NOT LEAST, a little homeboy called AK48

Ill update when it is completely finished and when i start the grow.
PLEASE tell me what i should watch out for and what looks promising.
Thanks :)

Ok, so i finished it all, it runs great... buttt
It is realllyy loud, how can i soften a fan or two?
also, there isa little bit of litght shining out, how do i fix that?

Computer fans are 12V but what I think you will find is that most cheap fans run really loudly at that voltage.. What I usually do is run them at a lower voltage.. 8-9V this quietens them down a lot but obviously you will lose some air flow.

So is there any way to make them more silent, without lowering air flow? Like, I don't want to spend a fortune on CP fans either. But is there maybe some casing or sound muffler that will make them more soundproof?

PC looks pretty cool.
Like I told you in my thread from what I know that's all I know???..

Thanks, yea I really dont want to lower the volts.. PC fans arent very great air movers to begin with, and lowering the volts makes them pathetic.

Im thinking of making some sort of like muffler, idk how yet. but ill let you know if i figure a good way out

Neat box mann.....i just posted in your thread about the sound. Check it out. Rockwool has many uses in growin. It first and formost job is sound proofing, its whats used at jam rooms and so on. But a fixing of this around any fan will dampen the noise alot.

Nice pc setup mate, you could just add some insulation foam around the fans and that should work. Also i think its better to have a stronger exhaust than intake just so you keep pushing hot/stale air out, maybe try using 2 fans/outtake and 1 fan/intake? Just a thought buddy, good luck :)

haha, well what i did was hooked up my most high amperage PC fan to the highest amperage battery charger i could find (both have 12volts though)
So since more amps = more power, i made that my exhaust :) the other two arent sooo much intake as they are to keep air moving around.
But they do bring enough new fresh air in to keep the plants plenty fed with CO2

Ahhh i dont think i read it properly haha well that sounds good bro :) do you plan on adding any more light in there? And about the light leaks you could try silicone sealant? Also what sort of soil do you plan on using?

I dampened the sound a little bit by making cardboard boxes lined on the inside with the insulation I used for the pc. It works a little bit, but not at the level I would like. So I make some sort of muffler for the inside of the box as well?

just planted the girls today :)

set timer up for a 18/6 light cycle
when should i change to a 12/12?

ALSO:
I figured out the perfect stealth soplution because of how loud the fans are.In the same room as my PC, i set up a regular gardening station (with some flower)
i have Mozart blasting.
Whenever someone walks in, they will be too distracted by the mozart & the 4 plants growing to notice the PC box in the corner of the room.
I just tell people its an experiment on what music does to flowers
ill play Mozart for 8 weeks
then Static Noise for 8 wekks
then heavy metal for 8 weeks
then soft rock for 8 weeks.
lol and by that time people will be so sick of the music, no one will ever go into my closet! :)
PROBLEM SOLVED!

FYI if you plan on keeping with the PC in the future, they do make fans that run very quiet. You pay a bit more for them, but they run near silent. Just look for them at any store that specializes in PC parts, or if there aren't any near you, can't go wrong with Newegg either.
